Dual to single fuel tank??

My dually has dual tanks. But there is an issue with one tank. But I’ve been thinking of putting a single large tank in the front of the bed, and eliminating the factory tanks. Has anybody ever done this?
 
what about fuel cells?
I have one mounted in the bed of my street truck? The OEM tank is long gone..
Passes state inspection..:dunno::dunno:

I think the DOT reg deals mostly with the possibility of off road fuel purchased used for powering the truck on road.

ie: farm implement refuel tank mounted in the bed and connected to the trucks fuel line.

i had an issue with one tank on my 89 crew cab dually, turns out getting a new tank and sending unit is not that expensive. i also changed out the crossover valve, way better than losing the space in the bed for a tank,

if i where going to go with a single tank i would get the 40 gallon suburban tank and mount in place of the spare tire

Thought about the burb tank, but I have a wicked heavy duty hitch on the back, no room for a spare. Bed has a 5th wheel set up, so bed is already kinda useless!! :doah:
And my fuel doors are up in front of the wheel wells.
It has 2 new tanks. Maybe I’ll just try and figure out why the passenger side doesn’t work.
 
A tank in the bed is ok in most states.
Lots of guys are using semi tanks and fuel transfer tanks for longer range. Or fueling in cheaper places.
If you have new tanks a selector valve isn't much money.
