So i want a set of street tires for my truck to
A) save some tread on the Mud terrains.
B) grab another mile to the gallon if i can

I have several sets of dually wheels and tires and i thought about throwing them on my k5.
Im pretty sure it would look hilarious but they would be free.

Buuuut. Can i run the steer wheels backwards? And just run the outers on the back? Or would that make bad things happen.

without dually hubs, wouldn't that make your wheels stick entirely outside of the fenders? You can easily run the fronts with wheel spacers (stock on older fords and newer dodges...junkyard stuff) but the rear is where you will have to spend some $$$ to make things fit correctly... maybe run just the insides and another set of spacers like the front?

Why would it stick way out?

Why would it stick way out?

have you really looked at the offset of a dually rim?

yes it will stick completely outside the wheel well, that's the reason for the wider fenders on duallys..

If ya wanna run smaller tires, i'd suggest you get some cheap rims and different tires that actually fit the truck.

Not to mention, running with only one dually rim outwards puts alot more stress on the axle components, leverage.

In my opinion, it's gonna look retarded to run those wheels without the proper setup TO run them.

Why would it stick way out?

Dually wheels, when used like the outer rear, have a negative offset. The tire would stick out 5-6" further than your stock wheels

Yes you can run them backwards but say good bye to you wheel bearings, they won't last long.

EDIT:
Damn I must really type slow. 4xcrazy beat me to it again.

sooo. Bad idea. Bahaha.
would the front dually spacers fit a 14bff?

I could run the fronts normal and run the inners on a spacer in the rear.

WAY cheaper to get some other rims.
You don't want ot deal with teh spacers.

Also, running spacers, or way offset wheels on the front 10 bolt will kill the bearings and ball joints in short order.

There is a guy running around fremont with a dually k5 on probably 38's....with trussed 10 bolts....chrome covers and all :doah:

The biggest reason not to do this is that the back side of the wheel isn't tapered for a lug nut and they WILL come loose.
