How long does it take to get to the dumont dunes from Las Vegas?
I hear it depends on how fast you drive!
No clue, but I think it's quicker at 70!
well if youre driving anywhere on a highway in nevada at 60mph youre a safety hazard because youre too slow!! and i dont know really. an hour and a half maybe...
Good point. If I were to move to LV I could afford a duramax powered dually and go 70, but my YukonXL doesn't like to go much faster than 60 with my 23 foot toyhauler on it's hitch.
I think we averaged 5 MPH yesterday getting back to SD from LV! Left at 1:30 and got home at 10:30. Uggh. But I'm considering moving there now that I see how close Lake Mead and the dumont dunes are. I'm burned out on Glamis, been doing that scene for 15 years now. The lakes in SD suck and off roading is at least an hour and a half from my house.
yeah im used to the powerstroke that drags the 26' toyhauler at 80+mph all day... ive actually never been to dumont, lived in vegas for 21 yrs and never been thre.... im kinda anti-california though i spend most of my time in utah.
What sucks about the lakes ?
There's only a handfull of them and they are small. During the summer months when you want to take the family out on the lake for some relaxation, you gotta get there by 6:00 am before they stop letting boats on. See, 100 boats is the maximum capacity for the best lake in the county.
Do you do any wheeling in LV?
My kids, wife and outlaws love the sand dunes, so it would be nice to be able to still go to them if we relocate. I like the water, wheeling, and dunes, all of which I can do if living in LV. I also like the proximity to the colorado river, like Parker, Lake Havasu, etc, all places we love to go to but hate the drive from SD. Anyways, I'm seriously considering moving TF out of CA, and now that I spent last weekend with debauchery in LV for a bachelor party, I'm liking the idea even more. Never been to Utah, but I guess it's close enough to LV for vacation.
i dont wheel... lol havent had a functioning 4x4 in 3yrs now. hahahaa!
i ride quads, and utah is amazing, start out riding trails through the trees and all of a sudden you're in the middle of some sand dunes, then on the way back to camp you could get snowed on all in one day.... i love it.
