Duramax outpulls Cummins and Powerstroke!

I like my k5 and all but I am a true Ford Diesel person through and through. What was that a suped up chevy with about 1 ton of weight in the back to give it traction? I mean come on that Ford was a dully so was the dodge.
The dude laughing at the end sounds like a goat.
Thanks
Adam

I'm not for sure if it is a "biased" video or has been rigged in anyway, and the Chevy was a dually also. Maybe it was a goat at the end, you never know where it was filmed :haha:

other then my baby 6.2, i like Cummins. My guess is that the Duramax was in 4Hi or 4lo, and the other trucks were only in 2hi. I dont see how that Cummins stalled out either.

Don't quote me on this, but that looks a lot like GM's Milford proving grounds outside of Detroit. That lone hill in the background with the 2 lane road tipped it off for me.

Besides when GM first brought out the Dmax, they had similar little videos floating around. One was of the noise at idle of a Dodge, ford and then a Chevy. The dodge and the ford both were the typical noisy diesel clatter where as the chevy was much quieter.

Yes it's probably biased if it was filmed at Milford but its no different than the propeganda Ford and Dodge spew out.

Ya, I am also going to say I think the Gm was in 4x when the other were in 2x.....

I just wish Cat would start producing a light duty diesel... Something similar to the one used in the concept powerwagon years back... I'd bu a Cat anyday over the others. CUmmins would be my next choice though.

What engine was that? We have never produced a light duty diesel (although we own Perkins which does produce light duty stuff, mostly off highway though)/

Never mind on the dully the gm was to
Sorry

yeah but its still a chavy, and i kinda think it was in 4hi... you couldn't pay me to drive a new chevy let alone a duramax... im a diesel technician, and i would only own/drive a powerstroke or a cummins... ford builds the best truck, cummins is the best motor if ford used cummins I-6s id get a loan for what ever it costs and buy one today!

new chevy trucks suck.

If you watch the video closely the Ford and Dodge front tires are obviously not engaged. I say the Chevy is in 4wd and they left the other two out just to make their little movie. I have a hard time seeing an IFS, aluminum headed regular cab truck pull a quad cab Dodge with a heavy cummins ISB and D60 putting weight out front. I don't know for sure but knowing the components that the big three use.....the GM is most likely the lightest truck of the three, making it the worst for back to back pulling.

Do you work at Cat?? Not sure what engine was in the Concept Powerwagon. I do remember HP quotes of around 700hp... I'll do some searchin and see what I can find.

I remember readin about the Cat engine in one of the ma issues on the truck, but I dont usually keep my old issues.

Here's the first thing I came across that says it's a Cat..

Interesting. If it is 7.2 L it was a 3126 which is a medium duty I-6 with the HEUI fuel system (like the 7.3 Powerstroke). This engine weighs about 1200 lbs and the highest truck rating is 330 hp (but can go as high as 565 IIRC in marine apps.). I am pretty confident Cat will never enter the light truck market with one of our engines. They are generally a little too big and heavy for most OEMs I assume, and the extra expense probably turns some away too, you get what you pay for though. And yes, I do work at Cat, check my profile.

Sweet! Wish I still had that old article from the mag.... We're int he trucking business and have owned Cat's, Detroits and Cummins.. We prefer Cat's over the rest. Cant beat a Cat! Back when I was driving, I drove an 84 Kenworth W900 with a 425HP Cat. It was putting close to (if not over) 450hp to the ground.. Man, I used to love driving that thing!!! :D
