Anyone else run into this problem? Previous owner had installed an aftermarket, chrome timing cover. Recently I dropped the pan to reseal. Bought a new pan, pump , pick-up and Fel-pro gasket sets for the timing cover and pan. Apparently neither come with the "thicker" timing cover to pan seal needed for most aftermarket timing covers.

Dropped the pan and installed the thicker seal. STILL LEAKING  ! I've been told that most aftermarket chrome timing covers for the early SBs are crap. I'm gonna grab a stock, stamped steel cover tomorrow and try again (hurricane permitting).
