Easiest way to get 4:1?

Taking a fairly stock blazer, with a TH400 that has an NP208 attached to it. What, in your opinions is the least expensive way to get 4:1 low range, or close to it? Doubler? Atlas? etc. I am talking overall expense, driveshafts, etc.
 
Atlas if you're comparing apples to apples. For what I spent on rebuilt 205, rebuilt 203 range box, triple stick shifters, doubler kit, 1410's etc I could have bought an Atlas and had much better driveline angles, and better low range choices.

Atlas. Untill you buy the doubler, t cases, and trans or output you will be at about the same cost or more depending on what you pay for everything.
 
I think that it would depend on what parts you already have that you COULD assemble something with...

Have a 203?
a 205?
Dana 300?
Np241?
Anyone you know want to get rid of any of those cheap? or give them to you?
 
The doubler can bet lots cheaper if you can build stuff for it yourself, if you can find the t cases for cheap and it retains one advantage over the atlas, a 2:1 and a 4:1, its heavier bigger longer has a ton of disadvantages but I would prefer having the 2 low ranges, I use single low ALOT.

If I was doing a blazer though (my truck is a 120" wheelbase) I think I would take a long look at The stak.

I have a total of 900 bucks into my doubler that includes the driveshafts and my front is a long travel, plus it is triple sticked.
 
Well I have a twin sticked 205 right now, but I am fairly certain its not the correct one I would need with a doubler. And 203's I am sure I could get one easily, however it would just be a matter of finding the correct one. The stak looks really cool, and I have bought from them before so I know they make quality stuff. I really like the 3 speed too, I would want a descent low range for spinning the tires, and a low low for when i really need the grunt... HMMM what to do what to do.
 
In my happy little world if I could even fathom getting the stak a doubler would not even be on my radar screen.

Like I said I really like having the 2 low ranges of my doubler and have been wheeling with guys who have had an atlas. All of them wished for another low range. Now if you are a totally towing to the trail hard core rock trail only type of guy then a single speed atlas will be fine.

But for a multi use truck I think a doubler or stak would work better over all
 
Yeah im going for a reliable trail rig that I can bring the whole family in. Only want the 4:1 for those icky situations. Not the other 90% of my wheeling.
 
I actually ended up with better driveline angles than stock by putting in a doubler-
original:
465/8.375" GM adapter/208 with slip yoke
doubler:
465/4.25" GM adapter/203/2" upclocked ORD adapter/205 (fixed yoke)

so, both driveshafts ended up being a little bit longer than stock.

If you can get the parts cheap, a doubler would be the more budget friendly way to go! It is a HEAVY beast though! :D
 
I can probably put you in a Atlas 4 speed for about the same price as a Stak. Me personally, I am going with the Atlas 4 speed. I have looked into the Stak and compared them and the Atlas came out on top in all aspects. You also have one other option and that is to go with a Klune V infront of your 205. If your interested in the Klune I am also a dealer for them.
 
I like the stak because it looks like I wouldn't have to change the drivelines..
