Who has run the Edelbrock 3704 TBI intake manifold and how do you like it? Also for anyone that does have one i have a specific question about the 4 center intake bolt holes. I'm wondering if they set the manifold up to fit old style heads as well as the later style. I've seen manifolds that were set-up to fit both types of heads but from what i can tell this one isn't that way.

Im running this intake manifold. It pretty much bolts up like the stock one except one of the distributor hold down bolt holes doesnt exactly line up right. I had to clearance it a little bit. Other than that everything is pretty straightforward. The only major thing I noticed is that after installing this intake manifold I really really need a vacuum canister. This manifold creates less vacuum which becomes apparent when your offroad and need to hit the brakes more than once in a short period. It can become annoying really quick. It can also get you into a bad situation. The power gain was noticeable as well as the throttle response. After I get a vacuum canister all will be well.

Oh and for your other question about the heads....this manifold only fits the old style heads. If your talking about it fitting the vortec style heads...it wont. You will have to get a different intake.

It makes some difference by itself but I'd say you need the complete power package if you want to see a big gain. I believe you have to change the bolt hole angle to fit the older heads.

If you have less manifold vacuum after you installed your intake then you have a vacuum leak somewhere. There are only two things that will cause your vacuum to drop, a vacuum leak or a hotter than stock cam.

I wasn't talking about vortec heads but rather the 86 and earlier heads. The reason i ask is i just bought a set of AFR heads and they screwed up and sent me the heads with the older bolt pattern not the 87-95 bolt pattern. I'm contemplating which direction i want to go, either send them back and have them fix them or modify my intake bolt holes, or buy an aftermarket manifold IF i could get a TBI manifold with the 86 and earlier bolt pattern.

Yeah, i'm pretty sure i'm going to send them back and have AFR fix them. The only down side to that is i waited 4 1/2 months to get the damn things as it is. I also don't want to send them back and then they butcher them trying to redo them but if that's the case at least they'll need to give me a "new" set.

Tell them if they can't deliver what you need you will take your biz elsewhere.

I thought you were gunna run that cnc tbi manifold. Never did see pictures of that thing.

You cant have your source re do the 4 bolt holes on the manifold you already have.

I've got that manifold on late style heads. It's ok. The monting flange height for the Tb is higher than stock that seems pointless and is annoying. The 4 'corner' cylinders seem to run slightly richer than the inner 4. But that's marginal. As to a performance gain? I have no idea as I, at the same time, added a cam, rebuilt the motor and started using EBL.
I'd get them to change the heads if I were you.
