I am actually thinking of getting an Elky project in the future. I still can't get Chevelles out of my head and since I am a truck guy now......Fast with a load in the bed /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

There are quite a few nice ones here in AZ. See a few on used car lots from time to time. There is a nice marron one somewhere here I saw slightly lowered with those new 17 inch new style cragar s/s rims . I wouldn't mind those years either. I had a 78 Monte Carlo, same interior, you could transfer a floor shift console from one into an Elky. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Too bad, there are plenty out here without rust. I am sure shipping one would be cost prohibitive. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

[/ QUOTE ]Having a real hard time finding one around here too. What kind of price range are they going for down there. I'm kinda looking in the $3,500.00 or under price range. I have family in Phoenix, and have thought about having them find one for me. Then I'd fly down and drive it back.

For something like that with no rust , you'd pay like 3-4 grand out here. I always say buy a six cylinder car or small V-8 car with no rust, then swap engine accordingly. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

[/ QUOTE ] Agree. Get something that hasn't been beat to death, build it how you like it, then beat on it. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif I would be happy with a mid 80's model with a 4.3 v6. I'm grtting old enough to NOT beat on cars anymore. I just want a nice looking El Camino for a dailly driver.

Me too. I drive my truck easy. Now recently we got a 2003 Impala, and I don't beat on it, but I have opened it up a little bit " Just to see what it could do " (like 110 on I-10 without trying) . I think I need another Chevy. Like Jeckyl and Hyde /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

Might have found my El Camino.

It's a 78 El Camino SS with a 305. They're asking $3,350.00, hopefully I can get them talked down to $2,500.00 . /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

I like the 71' and 72' El Caminos and Chevelles myself. Pizza cutters in front and 33x22.50's out back look awesome on those cars. The only prob with EL Caminos is that they can be hard to get to hook up if I remember right. /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

[/ QUOTE ]Yeah, they are alittle light in the rear, but at this point in my life I'm not looking for a hot rod anymore. So I'm not going to be lighting them up at every stoplight, but it's nice to know I could if I wanted too. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif What do y'all think of this 78 SS ??
