Emmett Revisited........

Just take the body off and truggy it, I wouldnt waste your time fixing all that rust for a trail rig.

I started getting discouraged yesterday with all the rust. Didn't think it was quite this bad.... Just seems crazy of me to push on when I have a 99.8% rust free Yota in the garage thats farther along. But I'll press on and see how the frame is by the back spring hanger shackles are and go from there.

Got the steering box off last night also.. Didn't clean the area real well, but the box was tight and I dont see any cracks yet.....

Like I said before, you will have a LOT of work ahead of you just to get a solid platform to start building and modifying off of.

Very true. I did check the fram over last night and it appears to be solid. No cracks at the steering box... But as I am wokring on it I keep thining how the toy is solid.. Just need to finish the SAS cross member(and install it) and I can bolt up the front springs. The back springs are already in...

May have to put Emmett back to rest... :(

Not trying to tell you what to do with your own vehicle, but I'd stick with Emmet but take a more logical approach. Get a different tub that's rust free or something. I live in Minnesota where they throw road salt down like it's candy in a parade. The deeper you dig the more rust you're going to find and have to repair. I think you should stick with it since I def. have a soft spot for K5's, but I don't think I'd feel like a cop-out if I got a different tub instead of trying to deal with that one.
