Engine crossmember/panhard kits

Was that Dcubb's standard crossmember or did it need to be tweaked to work with the GEN III?

As far as the shock mounting goes, you could weld/bolt the Ford towers right to the crossmember plates, that would be stronger than attaching to the frame I would expect. If the Ford towers aren't tall enoungh, you could space the the shocks down by not mounting them on top of the axle tube. You could use the stock lowers or make you own to position the lower shock eye just above and behind the bottom of the tube. Just my $.02.

The lower bar was lowered for the oil pan. I already started to modify one of the Ford towers to fit around the steering shaft when I had the Dana 44 so I might need to buy another one if I go that route. The crossmember side plate is pretty thick though. It makes the fit next to the steering shaft even closer.

always liked the fabtech 2wd shock mounts but they never made a 4WD version that I know of. Maybe Dave or Kurt will pick up the torch.

First let me thank you for the complement, confusing my fab work with Kerts :D.

Actually I built those, obviously based off of Kerts design, I wanted end up with approx 8" of lift, I had a set of 6" springs that I wanted to reuse and I really liked the stoutness of his design. These keep the springs in the factory position but drop them down 1 1/2" inches, combined with Kerts add a inch and factoring in the weight of the BBC and the bumper I am planing I should end up right around 8".

I have longer rear shackles to match as well, they are all made from 1/4" plate and overall I am happy with how they turned out.

Did you make these to use with the stock length front springs and wide bushings?

Yes, I am using a pair of 6" Skyjacker springs I had in my 85 K5 that I parted. The hanger part of mine measure in at 3 1/2" inside width, my springs have new poly greaseable bushings (ORD stuff) so they fit perfectly inside.

I have some better pics of the mounts somewhere, I will post them up in my build thread if you want to check them out.:D

So I'm very interested in this kit...dcubb, will this work with a BBC..I run a '77 K5 w/ 396 and stock motor mounts, but I want to upgrade to some ORD mounts, however no one else offers a Xmember w/ Panhard that fits a big block.

Shipping to 99654?

Hi,
Its been awhile since I've been here, so here goes, I am confused about this cross member as I've read through the threads I don't see this part mounted on the rig, do you have a picture of it from different angles, and does it mount with or without cross over steering or Hi steer, I have a D44 that needs a upgraded steering but can't find anybody unless you have a D60.
Thanks
Mike

I'd like to order one as well, with a panhard (D-44).

He was last active on here 5-28-09. It's been a couple of months since he's been around.

He does that. He's not always at home. You have to order one while he's back at home and making a batch of them.
