Engine crossmember/panhard kits

I hope everything is ok with Dave. I noticed his last log in was last night at 8:36...

Yeah, I'm still around. I recently took a supposedly short term job out of state, doing what I used to do up until a year and a half ago. I swore I wouldn't go back on the road when I quit back then, but we're in the process of building a new house and I really can use a fresh infusion of funds to help in that endeavor. Looks like I'll be busy until mid October.

That said, I plan on getting busy again building more crossmember/panhard setups when I get back home.

I'd like to apogize to mp1472 for not getting back to you in a timely fashion via pm's. I actually have all the parts cut and formed for your
setup on the shelf. They just need assembled and welded up. Unfortunately I don't know when that can be done in the short term.

Also. I'd like to say, I build these setups as a hobby, more or less. This is not a money making venture for me. I make a very, very small profit on these things. My main reward from this comes from having my work out there all over the country, and guys saying, "man, this guy does great work!". As we all know, it's getting harder and harder to find people that really take pride in what they do.

Again, I'm still around and welcome all inquisitions about these products via pm or otherwise, and I will do my best to reply as soon as possible.

Thanks, Dave Cubbage

Glad to hear it! Keep up the good work (when you can).

I am still trying to figure out what I am going to do with my front suspension, but if it works out and I can swing the funds :doah: , expect an order from me. :D

same no big deal timing should work out for me i will be in the need for one by that time.
When you get back and are ready to go can you update this thread as we are all subcribed so it will be easier than trying to pm everyone back.

Thats is great to here. No problem Dave, we all have busy lives so we understand. This is on my wish list for sure.

I took a job out of state for a couple of months, so I had to put the crossmembers on the back burner for now.

I should be back in the biz around late September.

Thanks guys

Dave

Im going to start stashing money in my secret spot just for that ocasion, look forward to hearing from you then, thanks.

Silly question here. Do you, or anyone for that matter, see why this could not be used when converting from leaf spring to a link suspension?

Dik

Im sure it could be but you still have to make the 4 link bars so if you are going that far why not mak a panhard or triangulated 3 link.
These are mostly for leaf spring trucks with soft suspension and or death wobble issues.Basically something chevy should have done like the other solid axle trucks.

I know I would still have to fab everything else and why he designed this part. I guess my real question is what would the cons be to using this mount for the panhard bar for a 3 link on the front.

Dik

with that kit the link posted a panhard bar is not needed its a triangulated 4 link.
With a standard 4 link all 4 bars running parellal you would need a panhard and yes the kit made by ducbb would work.
but if you are going to go 3 or 4 link a triangulated 3 or 4 link is easier to design and fabricate and involves one less link and therfore easier to do on the front.
Standard 4 with a pan hard bar really a 5 link are more for lowerd cars and trucks and drag racing applications where travel is not a consern and adjustability is.
i forgot the link but there was a company working on a bolt on 4 link coiover kit for our trucks i think it was 2500 complete.not a bad price figuring its all ready to go and bolt on when you start figuring joint prices and fab and development time.

WOW! I never realised that. Thanks for the info.

has anyone put one of these in a k30 diesel? it wont fit on my frame, i think because the bottom side of the frame is wider. the engine mount tabs is what is causing it to not fit.

Yeah, the tabs are extremely close to the lower frame rail edge. On some trucks, some minimal grinding is required in order to get the tabs up past the lower frame rail.

I make the tabs this dimension in order to utilize all of the factory engine mount bolts, without having to drill new holes, etc.

So far this hasn't been an issue that can't be resolved by a little grinding, but it's got me looking at revising the design a bit so that this is no longer a concern.

I'm also interested in a panhard setup. Any idea when you might get a chance to make some more?

Thanks,
Joshua
