When I come to a stop and press on the gas to again my car starts to go then there is a delay almost like I have no power for a second then it starts to go fine. What could be causing this delay?

Could be any number of things. Knowing the type of car/engine/fuel delivery system would help narrow down the potential causes.

That helps. The easiest thing to check first is make sure that all the lines are hooked up properly and that you have no vacuum leaks You'll also want to check that the timing is right. You'll need to disconnect the vacuum line from the distributor and use a timing light. I think stock is around 4 degrees advanced, I run 13 on mine, engines vary depending on how its set up.

A defective advance mechanism or accelerator pump can cause bog, but the vast majority of the time when the bog only occurs when accelerating from idle, and not at a constant speed, the cause is typically the idle adjustment. A tach and vacuum gauge will help you get it right. That fixed my bog problem.

All that is right, but one other question. Does the engine seem to almost die, or does it rev up and then the car goes?
If it revs with an automatic tranny, the transmission is dropping out of gear for a second.
Check the fluid level.
