Euzoa's (re)build and rant

It is currently only rocking a 350 with a 700r4 of unknown age. Hell, it doesn't even run yet, but for $200 I couldn't pass on it. Eventually though, I have some ideas for where I would like to see it go.

You have that problem too? I can't even remember how much junk I have helped haul arround because it was too good a deal to pass up. Like the 2.5 1970's sleds we got/workedon/rode for a season

No new work done, but I helped a buddy load a truck for scrap. We used the jimmy to pull it up the bank and arround farm equiptment. I'm liking the M/T tires i put on, dug some nice holes before i put it in 4low, including in the nice freshly packed gravel and oil road.

So I'm sitting with my wife in the er after having had a rough day in my own right. Went to head to my sisters this morning and the jimmy wouldn't start (had it on the charger all day yesterday because I though I had left the cb) throw the multimeter on it and it reads 10.4 volts...I bought this battery in march! I decided to take the 65 and deal with it tommorow, and the registration is expired! So I use a jump pack on the jimmy and head to the local(crappy) parts store and they say the battery reads weak but fine. Turn the key, nothing, jump pack? Not enough juice. Borrow a battery from inside, no juice, try to get a jump...parts store guy (nice, when to school with my dad) wont. Leave it be long enough to charge...finally get it jumped of a carquest battery tender. Went to a buddies and got the battery that came with my winch, drove to my sisters, (a 40 minute drive) turn the truck. Off then back on, click. Put a battery tender on it, and throw a charger on the winch battery just to be sure. Nothing on the new one, but the winch battery seems to be doing fine now

And my wife apparently has gall stones, oh joy.

Hrmmmmm....how's the alternator? Should probably get that and the battery tested with a good charging system tester by someone who knows what they are doing.

...or wait, wonder if you have an issue in the charging system wiring? My buddy's car will occasionally act like it has no juice at all. However if you disconnect the battery cables and then reconnect them it works just fine. We can't seem to find an obvious reason for this and it only does it once or twice a year. Probably should get to it...

Ugh, sucks for the Mrs.

Alternator says it is putting out 14. Something so I don't know on that front... the first thing I did was clean my connections and grounds. Parasitic draw (if I did it right) was only .3 If this other battery goes dead I will start searching again, but I'm blaming that from now

not to kind a kragen to return this one under warrenty...

Also the missus is under observation for the night, decide tommorow when it gets removed

Are Kragens even near you? I thought they were all in the South West?

That said they are part of a large auto parts conglomerate. CSK...which I think AdvanceAuto is part of...or related to...or something like that.

Did they put a load on the battery when it was tested? I've had a counter guy not do that, proclaim it good, then go to another store where they knew/gave a **** and it failed miserably on the tester there.

Tell the Mrs hi and get well soon.

I haven't seen any kragens... and the truck is running great with a different battery

The guy that tested it is one of those "hey I need this" are you sure it isn't this?" Types, so no there was no load. The onlyone worth a damn at that carquest is the guy that graduated with my dad.

Like I said, I'm going to try to get that battery replaced after I get it retested(even if I have to drive a few hours). And just runn that spare and start troubleshooting if I have more issues.

I've had fair luck at AutoZone's with their testing machines. At least around here they still have the actual machine where you have to bring the battery in to them and they load test/charge it. After ten or so they can tell you what it's doing. A lot of them try to use that hand held device now and I've had them fail/not know what they are doing with that more than succeed.

Well the battery i put in the jimmy is holding up well, and as you guys know my wife was in the hospital so i havent even taken the other to get tested yet.

I did decide how im going to mount the winch i got from Kota4bye atleast for now. I'm going to get a plow frame (cheap at the local junkyard) and mount it on that. it I've seen it done and it doesn't look to bad.

I also got a few minor trim items off the truck we scrapped nothing really worth mentioning. Unfortunatly work on my dads house has come to almost a stop ( I don't have the temperment to do a nice interior paint job on a room)

I also decided that since it is antique week here (http://www.madisonbouckvilleantiquefest.com/) and we will be swarmed by...let call them people with to much money I will put the 65 out front with 8500 firm on it...Take it or leave it, I dont really want to sell it, but if they want it bad enough...

not much overall, I will get pics up when i get the winch mounted

Pics is always good.

Only thing I don't like about plow mounts is how low they hang. Have seen it done though.

Decided that I would prep the jimmy for winter this week, took out the interior, all the carpet. I really want to "meet" the guy that invented fibermat, I found alot more rust under the carpet(alot for what i thought was a rust free truck). this week the bedliner should get rolled on, I'm just going to use herculiner and see how well it holds up, I've heard good and bad about it.

We are also going to herculine up to the trim line to give the rockers a bit more protection, and undercoat the crap out of it before snow.

I also got the Monte Carlo out of storage and boy she is getting rough. I doubt she will be put on the road for another 2 years, lots of body work to do, and the 65 needs a new wiring harness, new topend gaskets, a rearend regear and a fresh coat of paint on the motor.

We also did rinkys in my buddies lawn...My 65 His 90 short bed chevy and my cousins taco...his wife was impressed, next time ill get video

I have pics but i am having trouble getting then to upload today

All the holes in the floor are patched, i took the old man steps off, and the trim is now off, now just taping, prepping and slathering her with lots of duplicolor bedarmor.

Probably calls for Xylene but whatever it says to use hit it with it A LOT.

finally MOSTlY finished. We used alot of prep-all, whatever it calls for. did 3 layers on everything except the sides which i am going to get a spray can of it to hit again. It looks great. Isnt nearly as coarse as herculiner.

Just have to see how it hold up.

The weather has been nasty all week, 60s-70s and the drying time is so dang long on this stuff. the can says half an hr between coats. We had to wait a minimum of 2 and started just doing a coat a day and it still wasnt fully hardened inbetween.

One piece of advice is spent the money to spray it. rolling is such a pain, i would never do it again on anything but the cab of a pickup.

I will post some more pictures when i get a nice day to take them and update on how it holds up , for now here is one of the outside.
