Euzoa's (re)build and rant

Bit of an update, frame has been welded and patched, the top end is currently torn apart to replace the heads, having the usual issues with that.

Hypothetical question, say I wasn't there when the guy welded on the plates from Ord, and instead of stiching around the outside he welded all the way around the patch, is this going to hurt anything?

Been a couple discussions on it. Fairly split about it but never read anyone taking it off since it was welded all the way around.

New head gaskets are in, we created and exhaust leak when we did it. The egr ports were completely carboned over, silly me, I should have left them like that

Im now getting a stumbling idle, stall when I stop at lights... im thinking its the egr valve, but im open to suggestions at this point

The exhaust leak is between the manifold and the y pipe so that will get fixed this weekend

So alot going on lately, My wife left (see my post in the situation room), and Alot has changed.

So I got the stumble fixed, don't ask to embarasing to explain. I've been running her as a DD, 27 miles each way, averaging 11 mpg each day. I ordered a half cab soft top from CUCV2, just waiting for it to get here and i will get pics up

As a long term update on the duplicolor bed armor...Its crap, its far to soft, and is chipped and peeling all over the place.

This weekend I'm finally going to fix that exhaust leak, Install my trans temp guage, and try to get my lower radiator hose to stop leaking... I have the hose clamp as tight as I dare but it's still seeping I'm not sure what else to try

And i'm going to paint on some rust converter in a few places

I've been saying for yrs that Duplicolor made poopoo products.... :haha:

put some permatex 300 on the rad nipple and double clamp the hose..

Damn man. I missed a few things.

PM me if you want to talk.

As far as the radiator hose...if you can't get it to seal it's probably dead. I also learned the hard way that you want them tight...but not super tight. Too tight can actually make them leak more.

On my last K5 I replaced the coolant in that big ass diesel, towing, AC having radiator three times before I finally got the thermostat, upper hose, and lower hose all sorted out.

My issue is It was a new hose a year ago, and I never got it to seal right, and its leaking on the waterpump side,

Still use the permatex?

you can, just be aware that any time you use a sealer on a hose end, it may be a bear to get off next time...... and again, you CAN double clamp it if you can fit em...

just make sure you pull some strap sandpaper or course emory cloth around the barb to make sure it's clean and dry.... they have a tendency to get crusty...

Double the hose clamps but put them in opposite directions.

Sorry to hear about the lady.

that's suuuuch a marine thing.. ;) it's actually CG rule that all intakes hoses are double clamped.. in opposite directions... :D

Aye, Sir... I'll do that and flush the system at the same time tommorow...the coolant went from green to brown from the "new" heads I put on

edit- by tommorow, I mean saturday

So I cant find permatex 300 anywhere close, but I do have some Anaerobic flange sealer...man I love that stuff.

Think it will work?

Got my Halfcab/Tonneau cover on! and my exhaust leak fix...some uh wonderful person didn't bother to put a donut gasket in one side at all!

I also wound up in the ER with a corneal abrasion. I need to get a set of goggles, the safety glasses dont seem to be cutting it...

Lower hose is still leaking with Anaerobic on it...So i have a new hose to put on, and some more high temp Permatec product. If this doesn't do it I have no idea what to do.

I also have started hearing a "ping" when I put her in gear and a musical tinging at low speeds, especially on rough roads, I either couldn't hear it before or it started when the top came off. Either way I think its the rear U-joint. So I'm going to pick that up tomorrow, and try to get it put in tomorrow night.

did you double clamp it? not exactly a leak-prone spot.. somethings gotta be f*cked with the hose...

Big things.in the wind...my classes at Uti for.automotive diesel industrial start Oct 22!

I got that u joint changed, old one was shot(pic below).

I changed the hose, and I either messed up putting on the permatex or the lip on the water pump is about gone, maybe both, since I figured it would be easier to put it inside the hose I bet it squeegeed into the hose, dont ask what I was thinking. Ill redo it this weekend.

Since i wont have access to a shop I need to get her to stop leaking, so the tcase I have on the shelf will be going in, guy that parted it out claimed it didn't leak...

Lastly,I want this divorce to be over with

couple more small updates.

The jimmy is now officially the "Fawn Slayer" according to the girl that was with me when I hit it.

Poor little thing ran out of the weeds and into my bumper and under my tires last saturday at about 1am. Took me all of 5 seconds to clean the fuzz of my bumper.

I also installed my trans temp guage, realized I have been overheating my tranny probably since I had it rebuilt, and installed a transcooler. the only one they had instock was for "motorhomes and towing 10000 gvw" so I plumed through the cooler, then the radiator to make sure it gets up to temp. She runs between 180 and 220 now, depending on how hard Im running it.

Works for me

hehe, my 78 Power Wagon was named Bambi Basher... :haha:

Well, I'm extremely discouraged.

Went home on vacation and the front seal puked on the 700r4.

I have this feeling It was my fault.

I changed the front seal, and didnt replace the pump bushing, Its doing the same thing again already. But I was nursing it back to PA, doing fine, putting in about a quart every 40 miles.

I go through the toll gates coming off the 476 in quaker town and it starts cutting in and out then dies. I crank it and it runs about 2 seconds and dies, 2 seconds and dies, then just cranks.

I had it towed to my apartment

Possibilities?

Coil-I hope
Ecm?
Fuel pump/sending unit

any suggestions?
