I just picked up 1999 Carson 16ft deck 20ft nose to tail and it's 83in between the fenders. I can now ask retarded newbie questions on trailers..hence the title of the thread. I didn't really "need" a trailer at this point but I got an awesome deal so I couldn't resist. I'm making a list of things to go over and check out and looked at it a little today and am going to need some help with wiring stuff.

Pictures and questions will be coming soon

Cool, I've got an 18ft Carson 10k with dovetail, also 83 in between wheelwells. I ended up building ramps to get the big trucks up and over the fenderwells. Fire away on the questions and pics.:D

If you dont really need it, you can let me have it :wink1:

You can borrow it whenever you need to :D

I was actually considering "renting" it out until I need it. I don't have the truck to pull anything super heavy on it yet. And the project truck still isn't done.

When I go to do the insurance and registration on it I'm gonna ask about my liability if someone else were towing my trailer and had problems.

snapped some pictures of it. I also found I need t replace atleast one of the boards as I found where the water pools when it gets wet.:doah:

and here are the connections it has. I know the plug are for the lights but what is the big heavy gauge red wire for?

I'd yank that old wiring and start over . I'd stick on a new 7 way to match every trailer and truck available nowadays . And carry an adapter for older stuff and 4 flat .

Does this have brakes ? If not I'd get some .

electric brakes on the rear axle. Eventually I want to add brakes to the front as well but for now the rear will be fine.

I'll bet that fat red wire is what they ran to the brakes. Blue is normal code for trailer brakes. I would agree that it would be better to put on a standard 7 wire plug so it would be universal to modern standard. And wow, it's purdy.:D
