I scored the factory roll bar from @90BlazinAZ and was wondering if anyone has installed one in a non roll bar body. Seems the main upright bolts will go through to the rocker boxes.
I was thinking I would need to get into the rocker boxes to mount properly. Has anyone done this?

If you don't have the built-in captured nuts you will need to put some.
What year is yours?
I think 74 and up all had the provisions.
Our 73 we cut a 5x5 window in the back of the rocker boxes for access

I have a 74 and nothing there for sure. A hole in the back of the rocker box sounds easy enough.

I'm glad you jumped into doing this. My 74 did not come with a roll bar and I've thought about adding it. But wasn't sure if it was an easy process, not coming stock from the factory.

If the truck won’t see mud, etc, what about using a hole saw to cut a 2” or so hole that would allow an extension to reach up to the bolts.

If it was going to stay in SoCal that would be an option. But I'll be moving to the Spartanburg area of SC next summer so more mud will probably be in it's future.

You can put a rubber plug if only an access hole.
Or a bolt on plate with caulking for permanent seal

Guys, this is semi-local to me on MP. He says its off a 79 k5. Seems this would bolt into my ‘87? Debating it if worth the drive to go check it out

As long as you know it's an aftermarket not original.
It look like it should work for you.
I believe 78 was the change in the floor and went all the way to 91
