Failed CA SMOG any ideas

Looks like you passed the HC and the CO with flying colors.. that looks to me like its running pretty good.
The NOx will be high if you have a bad EGR, bad Cat, or if your truck is very hot.
Possibly the cat is bad, because when those go bad you will fail on the NOx. on my '01 Z28 I had a bad 02 sensor that would dump a lot of fuel in that bank, and it burned up the cat very fast, like within a month.. so if its not running optimally it could have burned up the cat in the last year and now thats why its failing the NOx.
Also i was under the impression that i need to get my vehicle very hot before getting it smogged so it will run cleaner.. NOx goes up the hotter that it is running because it will run leaner.. So if you got it real hot before you smogged it, next time try to get a pre test and don't get it so hot.. since your HC and CO passed so clean, if you try to smog it when its not really hot, it shouldn't fail
those tests and it will bring your NOx readings down.

yea i went back after putting in the stock chip and it passed. Brought the nox to where it should be and the co/o2 went up a little but not much. Not sure if I should leave the stock chip in or swap it back out with the tbichips one. Would like to get the winaldl thing figured out to see where to go.

If Brian made you a chip only from engine info given to him and not from a datalog file then you definately need to get winALDL and do some data logging for him to see what and where things need to be tweaked. I have one of his chips, the first was only from engine spec info and that chip made the engine run but not very good, from there i data logged and sent him the file and he made me two more chips and i finally have one that performs very well. There is no additional cost for him to burn you another chip and also no down time as he just burns another chip and sends it to you and when you've got one that works you just send him any unused chips back.

Nice, Yea I emailed him and he asked for the data. I had one of his stage 2 chips that wasnt very specific. Looks like this week coming up Im going to try to log some files since I got some time off. Hope it works out cause Im sick of engine issues as of late. I just had the thing stall out and not start yesterday. No spark. Pulled the MSD dist out and replaced it again and it worked..... for about 10 mins then died again. Thats when I noticed the coil plug wire kinda burned. Looks like the factory power plug to the coil was bad and arcing out which probably cause the computer chip in the dist to fry. Pushed the pin connector in further and worked fine. gave it slight tuggs and the engne quit immediatly. So took it apart and cleaned the connections, soldered it up and plugged it back in. Seems great now. Hopefully it will last more than a week before something else goes. I am losing faith in my vehicle reliability every time. Anyway thanks for the tips.
