My 400 transmission is making a very distinct "ticking" noise that gets louder with acceleration and in gear, not in park or neutral, thought it to be harmonic balancer. Parked it for a day only to find it had spilled all its transmission fluid thinking the seal has gone south. Any Ideas ?

cracked flexplate was the culprit when mine was making a ticking sound, had it happen to 3 different cars/ trucks over the years...could also be something rubbing on the driveshaft like the exhaust hanger/muffler piece, had that happen as well. Another culprit, unskrew the speedometer and see if the noise goes away too, had a speedometer make similar noises that was annoying to all hell once I figured it out to the speedo I was a happy camper...

definately a bad seal for the tranny fluid leak.

hit me up and we'll fix your metronome sounding tranny, glad to see your back and the Blazer is still alive:saweet: Btw, you have the np208 right, that noise could be in the t-case as well, seen plenty of broken shift forks in those things that would make a noise you describe.
