Like the title says. How fast are you comfortable cruisin' at in your K5? I top out at about 70 before The shakes start to drive me crazy. I'm trying to see how normal this is and if I need to start hunting some driveline problems. BTW - My K5 is bone stock suspension wise and I'm runnin' 31's for Christ's Sake. I should be comfortable running fast than this on the Interstate at least.

60 or 65mph is about all I do because of my puny 305, 33's, and 3.08's. Just no power to go much faster without always downshifting.

i couldnt vote. You didnt have an option for 50 and below... :D With my old motor, i think i got it up to 65 going down hill, Didnt really feel too safe...

Whatever the posted speed limit is or just below it. Saves on gas and I don't have to worry about speeding tickets. I always let someone play Bandit for me.

At 62 it starts shakin real bad..then at 68-69 it goes away and the highest I've had it is 75. I average about 60.

Thats with 38.5 Bias plys and 4 inch lift and 4.11 gears.

Mine rides perfect, at as fast a speed as it's capable of doing. I drive it up around 80 pretty often, and it's nice & smooth with just a touch of wind noise if the windows are up ... but they're all usually open. But, it's still stock, with some 32's the PO had put on.

You need an 85+ option

I can bury my needle in OD and not even see 2500 rpm with 33's and 3.73's . I prefer to cruise at 65 - 75 for safetys sake . Radials , a CV , newer frontend parts , poly bushings ....no shakes or vibes :D

not a k5 but I can get my truck up to about 70-75 before it shakes me apart with the 42" tsls on beadlocks. Im running equal now, going to see if bbs work better when i got time.

well, I dont run leaf springs anymore and the 4 link front and rear really add a lot of stability...
I cruised from Flagstaff, AZ to Montana and back at an average speed of 85mph. It felt good (no rear floor or fenders either  )

with the cost of gas and my high compression motor, 45 to 50mph is comfortable on my wallet. truck shimmys at 60mph but goes away at 65mph. I have had the secondaries screaming and the needle burried embarassing a guy in a mustang, and all though it was at only 25mph to 30mph i have had a trailer that i was towing push me through a red light at an intersection....that was NOT comfortable..

everyone around here drives between 75-80 in the fast lane. my truck gets a little vibe at 65-70, but smoothes out after that. i think its my rear driveshaft/ujoints. i usually run 75-80 w/ no problems.

I take my rig on trips to Utah every now and then when I need to do some serious work at my Dads. I usually cruise about 70. Anything higher than that the temp starts to rise fast! I have 35's and 3.73's. Vibes aren't too bad but the K5 is noisy as hell! Well at least compared to my wifes Explorer

The shakes and wobbles smooth out at around 90 and then again at 110. so i try to keep it at one of those speeds on the freeway.

:rotfl: alright, its smooth around 60 or 65, sometimes i'll drive 70 or 75, but above that it starts getting scary..

Who knows how fast ive gotten mine up to.....ran outta numbers lol, its fun for about 10secs then its like wtf am I doing.....slow the f down retard........I typically cruise 70-75......thats what my speedo says, and I never recal'd it when I went from 32.5(actual measure) to 35's.

Looks like I'm the only one shakin' 70 - 80 all stock! Looks Like I'll start with u-joints, then should I change to poly bushings and such? Pinion angle should be fine, but maybe the old wore out springs are allowing the axle to rotate some at these speeds, throwing it off some (pushing against the non-aerodynamic box that I drive.) You think that could be part of the problem (190k on the stock suspension)?

I ususally cruise around 75-80 in my stock Jimmy. The old 78 Bronco I used to have actually smoothed out at around 75 and it had 39.5's and a 460. On an empty strip of I-95 in Maine I actually had it up to 110!!! Onle for a moment though because it was getting scary!

around 65-70.. its scary though i cant really turn that fast and my steering is to loose to feel safe..
