    Sorry, but it's a Dodge /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

But Brendan Gaughan (Craftsman Truck driver) drove it 154.587 mph !!! /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif

The record was set at the Chelsea Proving Grounds in Michigan and the only damage to the truck was the bent gas pedal.

Brendan was talking with Herb Helbig (lead engineer on the project) about the possibility of deer entering the track while he was running. Herb says: "We have spotters. The deer won't make it." /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif

If you like Dodge trucks you can buy one at your local dealer for about $45,795.

Give me a C10 SWB with a 427 and a Muncie and 15" wheels and I'll stomp it.

I can't stand V10s, they sound like crap and are so un-American when compared to a V8.

    Notice the word "production". /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

That means you have to be able to buy exactly as run at a dealer.

Sure, a trained monkey could put a monster big block under the hood and do 200mph. /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif

I know, I never said that wasn't the fastest production truck.

However, it's still gay, it still has 22" wheels, and I'd still rather have the C10.

I'm gonna have to agree with Tim on this one. V10's suck. Those small bore V10's just don't have the ass like a big inch big block. Myself I would like to see a SWB C-10 reguler cab (extra cabs are for kids not fast trucks) with that new 572 big block and a 6 speed. That would make that Dodge look like it was built by the girls auto class.

i concur. but them typhoons were fast as crap as well. maybe a C10 or K10 for a 'hella-launch' and a 496 twin TURBO setup /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif (sorry ls1tech.com got me hooked on turbos for speed) i'd say that'd pull more than enough for 200 /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif but it wouldn't be stable enough to do it.

    Turbos are for Diesel engines.

Turbo for gas engines = rice.

Typhoon/Syclone = Domestic rice, but still cool, because it's legit fast

I hope Chevrolet will roll out a truck to compete with it. I know I'd like to go up to my local dealership and test drive a new truck with that 572 big block under the hood. What would you think of them putting a 572 in a SSR ??? /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

I'm not running overly large 22" gay wheels. I just don't see the connection there between 16.5's and 22's. /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

The only thing cool about it is that GM and Ford will likely answer the bell on this one...

I'm pretty sure GM started this whole "Fastest production pick-up" with the 1990 454 SS pick-up. Mind you, they'll have to be careful if they get much faster...the aerodynaimcs of a pick-up really suck. I'd hate to see one get all unstable and do a bad imitation of a 747.

It's GM's turn. /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif Furd had the record until this run.

    How about this:

    A 2004 Silverado 1500 with a 500HP LS6 5.7L V-8(currently rated at 400 HP).

Now, we would have to get a Craftsman Truck driver to drive it, so how about Tina Gordon?:

We also need to have a reporter present to provide a good technical overview of everything going on. This reporter should be a driver who has experience in the Craftsman truck series.

How about NASCAR.COM's newest reporter, Leilani Munter?:

LS6 will be old news by the time they'd so that. I have heard rumors of a supercharged 496 (8.1) in the 06s /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif

but an LS2 or LS7 would be preferably. Or bring back the LT5. LS7 is a 3valve head pushrod engine. LS2 is a 400hp base C6 engine. might go in next gen Fbodies when/if they come out.

Also redesigning the LS6 for 500hp is stupid IMO, it'd need a lopeyer cam and larger valves, or start boostin compression. This is its last year anyway so let it fade.
