Some progress was made last night.
The old timing set was original as far as I could tell....Still had the GM stamp on it....with 240,000 miles. The slop in the chain had the crank and cam out of alignment just enough to be a PITA. Turning the cam to get the timing mark at 6 was easy, the crank however was not. I don't have the tool that fits on the end of the crank, and I don;t like to just torque the bolt in there and turn away.
So I lined them up after a while....good to go.
Then I spent forever cleaning the timing cover off, and putting in the new timing seal. Got the timing cover, water pump, and PS pump all bolted back up.
Today I plan on getting the oil pan re-installed, as well as the valve covers. Should be fun.
