I present to you: the most rediculous, unnecessarily complicated, feeble attempt at a seat adapter/ interior roll bar I have ever seen. But... it's done, it fits, it works, and it doesn't look nearly as rediculous when it's covered up by seats.

It is made for putting 2000 model silverado buckets in a 1986 K10. I've posted unfinished pics before (like a year ago), but I just now took the time to pull it back out and clean it up.

It attaches in 16 places: 8 studs welded to the ridge behind the seats, the 2 upper seat belt mounts, the 2 middle seatbelt mounts in the floor, and the four original bench seat mounts. The roll bar attaches to the bottom piece with 4 3/8" bolts.

It's so complicated because I had to get creative to tuck everything into the nooks and crannies in the floor pan to get the seats to sit low enough in the cab. Saddle gas tank humps suck. After all of this, I still had to remove the sliders from the seats to get them low enough.

Sorry about all of the shadows:

That's why it's in 2 pieces ;). It's still a pain though, you have to install the seats before it goes in. Once it's in, good luck getting to the bolt heads .

Dude, that's awesome! I'm about to do the same thing (minus the roll bar) for my truck. Adapting 08 Escalade seats front and rear.

Yeah, I'm not real sure how effective the roll bar would be anyway. But it did allow me to bolt something to the now otherwise useless seatbelt holes, and maybe stiffen things up a bit. Eventually I'll tie some more bars to it and build a respectable roll cage.

I should also add that the funny looking brackets in the middle are for a sheetmetal plate that bolts on between the seats (nuts are welded to the bottom of the bracket) that supports a Tuffy console. The console could be removed to make room for a cooler on the shelf, but then again that's what the bed is for. The console will be held to the plate with well nuts since access to the bottom will be difficult.

Here it is installed. I've still got to install the MIP floor from LMC but I'll do that next summer when it's hot so it will go easier. For now, I just painted the floor to match the tube.

Here's a close up the little hump in the middle to go over the tranny tunnel (the bottom of the piece of sheetmetal is still red primer - I ran out of paint and no one will see it anyways).

A close up of malfunction junction where the 2 pieces bolt together and we make the step up to the ledge behind the seats. The 1/4" flat bar curls under the seat and catches one corner of the seat mount and one of the original mounting holes in the floor.

This illustrates the reason for that weird little hoop in the middle of the unit. The tube tucks into that odd trapezoid shaped recess in the center of the floor behind the tranny tunnel and catches the inside back corners of the seats and 2 more holes in the floor.

This just shows the "roll bar" coming up behind the seats and attaching to the old seat belt mounting hole.
