I need to replace my stock fuel tank and want to go with a TBI tank since it has a TBI motor. Anybody got any experience with one that worked well? Is there a direct bolt on? Certain brands from a tank company.

It is a driver's side fill tube.

IIRC, a stock TBI (chevy) tank has the filler on the wrong side. The options if you go this way are to cut up the new tank and move the filler neck or move the fill hole in your blazer. I don't think moving the filler neck in a new tank would be that difficult, but not the direction that I chose (time constraints). You may be able to find something in the IFS blazer or trucks that would work, but I think the tanks are too wide to fit between you frame rails.

I used my tank with an in-tank fuel pump. It seemed like the easiest route at the time and it works fine.

Why do you have to replace the tank with a TBI tank?

Not sure if you have a body lift, but you may be able to squeeze a fill hose between the body and frame rails if you do. I've seen one done where they move the fill port on the tank from a later model truck, but the tank bolted up ok.

Fuel cell. Look over on 67-72chevytrucks.com in the vendor section. There's a couple of guys that are building them....Dave Boyd and Fuelcellguy.

I am getting some leakage on top where the sender is and also where some of the lines go into the tank. I have a frame mounted fuel pump that has worked fine for fuel delivery, just tired of smell and leakage.

Gonna call on a new supposedly OEM tank for it this afternoon.

Good article on converting the tank to in tank pump.

Haven't heard an update, how is this project going?
