Flyin Rat Garage

So....when are the burnout vids!?? :haha:

Looks great Dave! I like the nice big drain in the floor. :thumb:

That drain goes 2' deep down to sandy soil, with an overflow about 6" below the floor level and dumps outside the building incase the insoil drain backs up.
Should be a welcome thing to have....I have another round tile penetration in the floor to bring in a water supply as well for the future, as well as another 2" conduit penetration for possible future gas supply.

Looks smaller now some how lol.... also looks a LOT closer to done :waytogo:
still so much to do, but hopefully we'll get the concrete work wrapped up by the weekend...still have a bunch of old concrete to remove....that will change the approach and make for a smoother transition into the new barn....also at least 20 more yards to prep for and pour for the transition from the existing concrete area to the barn.

And we have to build a 20' trench drain to insure proper drainage in front of the new building.

Concrete finish turned out nice and smooth, all hand finished.
Today he cut control joints in it @ 12' intervals lengthwise and zip-strips across the width....they're undetectable.
Today we finished boxing the eaves and gables, and started hanging sheet metal on the walls.

busy weekend at the Flyin Rat Garage...
both long sides are covered as well as the roof, save for the ridge cap.
about 40+ trips up and down that ladder and my knees are screaming for relief!
the last pic is the underside of the roofing metal, it has a condensate absorption coating to prevent dripping from frosty metal.

I'm intrigued by the anti-drip coating. What is it made out of?

Me too,I'm curious--wish my quonset had something like that on the inside of the arches--if there is any snow on the roof or its a very damp day,I can get "rain" when I get the wood stove ripping in there!...sometimes it just drips all by itself when the humidity is high and condensation collects on the arches any time of the year..

It is worst if the concrete slab is wet..I did not put any plastic vapor barrier under the slab, wish I hadn't listened to the contractor who said "you wont need that",he claimed fibermesh concrete was good enough..(wish I had put rebar in it too,he said its not nessasary )..

I'm confused by the layout on the inside Dave. What's up with the header/ half wall? Are you going to put a overhead door inside your shop? I'm talking about the opening inside next to the framed wall

that wall goes up to the trusses from one side to the other...there is an entry door centered, and a 10x10 overhead opening that lines up with the front overhead on the right...for now it will be framed in and insulated, but removable for later door installation. The front 1/2 is going to be the new shop area. the rear 1/2 is going to be storage....no heat, no A/C
