Flyin Rat Garage

as of Nov.26th the exterior of the building is complete...my contractor has completed his work on the original bid sheet and has gathered most of his stuff to move on to another job...we have become friends over the last couple months and I helped him on his portion of the project for about 40 hours worth of work, he said he would pay me or take it off the original bid amount, so we decided on this rifle...a Bushmaster 450 w/ an Anderson lower. The scope is borrowed.

oh yeah, the barn pics... first up is a pic for Ryan...all 3; attached garage/barn/shop
next is a few pics of the new barn
then some inside...I have finished the ceiling in 1/2" OSB, and that will get a layer of 4" foam on top of it.
the center partition wall needs to be finished up with 1/2" OSB, then I need to wire in some boxes for ceiling fixtures/fans/etc, and anything that will go exterior on the walls...recepts for outside/lighting/etc. then the walls will get a healthy 2" of foam.

Sprayed foam insulation completed last week and pulled service wires on Sunday and got power to the barn on Tuesday along with a temporary light and a few outlets.
The interior overhead door was delivered yesterday and today we got it installed....finally ready for some heat!!!

We are close, but not quite there yet. High of 16 today, dipping below zero at night.

Alright. We started at -8 today. A heat wave is supposed to bring us way up to the 20s tomorrow. For one day, which will dump 8" of snow. Then it's getting cold again. Weather is funny stuff. :haha:

We are supposed to be in the negatives on Sunday, with -20ish windchills. That's crazy cold for Kansas. Should be fun.

I shall know as I have to be at church by 9am.

Can't find a good picture, but "Get me to the church on time!"

Nice. Are you guys having the same sub zero weather that we have over on this side of the pond? A heated shop would be a huge thing right now...
I'd say we are close to average for this time of year, we will dip below zero Sunday night, but otherwise typical winter for us.

Looking real good! What kind of an "R" value does the spray foam give?

Spray foam gives at least double the "R" value that blown in fiberglass or batts do. The real value comes from sealing up every little gap...and with sheetmetal siding there are a few!

We used a commercial heater today when it was 15* outside, we had it up to 50* in less than an hour, and now that the interior door is up (previously a tarp was in place) to hold the heat in, it is easy to feel the retention of heat. We finished up about 1:30 and the temp was 15* outside and 47* inside.....I checked it again tonight before I headed to work @ 10pm and the outside temp was 6, and inside without any heat running for 8 hours it was still 39*....NICE!
