Foam Air Filters

Just got sent this little tidbit from an email list about a plenum:

"Then you can run the air tube from a Dodge 5.2, it has an air inlet
off to the side so you could run MAF if you want and bolts to the top
of a carb/TBI unit with the 5.25" top."

For the bends, use true mandrel bent exhaust U's, J's, or 90's from JCW or SPD or if staying at 4" start at the Walker HD truck page and work towards someone local who carries their stuff.
Can butt weld bends cut to the right angle to tubes (this is how I build exhaust systems that fit & route where I want them to be). Minimum you need two rubber couplers. If in the budget, use either a single bulge or a double bulge coupler for max flexibility, otherwise some 6"-10" long thin walled straight hose sections.

I was thinking of using a tubing doughnut or two. I could get all the bends I need from one of 'em. I've seen some with a pretty tight CLR. Bad for flow, good for fitting. 4" exhaust tube for straight sections welded to the cut pieces. One silicon coupler at the plenum and another at the firewall. Drivetrain is all poly mounted and chassis is boxed with the tube welded directly to it so nothing should really get crazy with movement.

If I ever make a trip to Cali, I'm definitely lookin' you up dude. Anybody got a spot for an ME in the automotive field down there?

You know if you want to do a cheapskate version of the BHAF you could stop at the tractor wrecking yard in Jackson MN and get one from them. Just a thought....

My couch is short, but there's lot of floor space once I move the bike, m/c, baja, & truck parts. :D
Wilwood is nearly always hiring, and there's a good reason for that.

Haha, IIRC from a PM a long time ago you worked there at one point.

I've been looking into 5.2 stuff and I think I might go that direction. Easy, cheap, small, and low profile. Now I just gotta work out hiding a 12"x12" tube in the dash.

I didn't read the whole thread, but I must say, stay far, FAR away from foam filters... I've seen way too many trucks burned down after a small hiccup started it on fire, and started an engine fire...
