For those that Line x'ed

ok another one........ I know I know......

I hav the removable transmission hump. How would I go about taping it off so i can remove it again in the future? Leave it bolted in and cut the "seam" afterwards?

you'd have to cut the sealer for that to get it off anyway, just line x over it.. later, unbolt, cut thru line x, sealer with razor knife and scraper... touch up on reinstall...

like my custom one.....

I'll trim out the sandwich lip with paint, install the rubber gasket (as opposed to seamsealer), install cover plate, roll herc right over everything.. time to open it, cut with razor knife...

If it were me, id do it the same way they did the rear tailgate access, remove it and do it as a seperate peice and just put the bolts in the holes in the floor to keep the Line X out of the holes. Otherwise youll have to cut the Line X and could turn into a nightmare.

Keep in mind that if you remove a panel be it rear tailgate access or trans hump, there will be built up material at the edge so you will have to work the panels back in their position. My rear tailgate access panel sticks up ever so slightly due to Line X build up, but nothing anyone would notice.

yeah, but the tailgate plate is easily removed, pull the screws and it comes right off... trans hump's are super hard to get off sometimes.. why break the seal and invite leaks to something you may never actually have pull back off?

Except I will be pulling it right off. My Transmission and LOKAR floor Shifter Showd up monday.. :) But I wont have the help to install them for a couple weekends!

Unless the timing of your projects are an issue, id hold off on the coating until your done messing around inside. This includes the trans tunnel and any other body work that needs to be done. Once you put this stuff down, be it Line X, Rino Liner or DYI, it is pretty permanent and a big pain to cut and try to work around. This also includes any welding. I had my roll bar installed AFTER the Line X and the roll bar was partially welded in place and melted some of the coating, but luckily it was the portion that went Under the feet of the roll bar.

I used U-Pol Raptor on the underside of my Chevelle and it's going in the blazer too. DA sander worked great as well as the red scotch bright pads. For the bolt holes I used disposable foam ear plugs. Just roll em up in your fingers, stuff in the hole, watch em expand to the hole size. ( remove mind from the gutter) As soon as its tacky, grab a pair of needle nose pliers and pop em out, voila, clean threads!
