ford=powerstroke,dogge=cummins

There were rumors of that a few years ago... right before they partnered with Isuzu. If GM had gone with a Cat I think they would have OWNED the market.

im not positive, but i believe dodge is moving to CATS in 09? i think....that would be pretty cool...but cummins are still awesome

wow...300 hp and 860 lb.-ft. of torque .....and u can get a cummins, a cat, or a powerstroke....did not know that! i didn't think any of the "big 3" offered a cat!

More rumors

I've been told Ford bought Cummins - the Dodge to Cat might be true for this reason. GM is supposedly designing their own diesels without Izuzu.

i wonder if you can get a CAT diesel in an f350..im guessing the motor mounts are the same,so you can put it in yourself atleast...i wouldnt hate powerjokes as much then...it wouldnt even be a powerjoke then! and then the world can be a better place...;)

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Dodge will have the 6.7 Cummins between the frame rails for many years to come.

GM will continue to use their V8 Duramax...for years to come...no, there will NEVER be a CAT in a GM, or a Dodge, or a Ford pickup in anything but the very distant future.

Ford will continue to use International's engine, at the moment. If Ford and Navistar can't mend the fence with their cat fight, then Ford will most likely ( we're talking a 99% chance here) that they will build their own in house diesel again, like they did with the 6.9 and early 7.3 diesel from the 80's.

NO, Ford does not own squat in Cummins. Back in the 90's, Ford bought a large amount of Cummins shares. Cummins didn't like this bought the shares back shortly after. From then on, the horror statement "doesn't Ford own Cummins?" has been haunting many of us ever since....

An F650 is a completely different animal, just because you can get a C7 Cat in one, doesn't mean it has ANY kind of effect on the light duty market.

Cat doesn't make anything for the light duty market and they are not setup mass produce light duty engines for the pickup market

who needs light duty anyway, i would put 1 of their heavy duty chit in my pick up or k5 :-), if it wouldn't bend the framerails, or do revese wheely or just break it down to the ground!

i have a friend who has a continental diesel v twin motor, either a 10 or 12 cylinder, iirc its 10, it is brand new from army surplus, had it for yrs(10 or so), in his shop(180'x300'?, huge building), engine is from a tank, but he said it was used in planes also, he planned on using it for a swamp boat, he's even made the prop for it, but his plans just recently changed, drastically!...he maybe headed to prison for murder...

he caught 2 black males(BM, not bowl movement)in his machine shop(he has been plaged by break-in's recently), he setup camp on a saturday, that night they came in thru a window and he came out his hidey hole w/a sks...1 BM started yelling "shoot him" at the other and the 2nd BM draw a weapon (handgun), friend blasted him 3 times in chest(triple tap)the guy(doa) as soon as he saw the pistol, second BM jumped out window and started running, friend runs to the window, the BM is headed to a running car at business next door, he shot him twice in the back,killing him and car sped away and he sprayed it w/ lead w/o hurting any1 else, and they are saying that it is murder!!!

they justify the 1st, but say b/c 2nd was fleeing and unarmeed and he shot him in the back, its MURDER...now, this man did 3 tours in vietnam w/ usmc force recon(special forces), looks to me like, he's a trained killer and when the chit hits the fan all enemy dies and he could claim this, b/c i have another friend of family, who claimed this and got off charges of murder for killing a man in the early/mid 80's(but he pistol whipped dude to death), but he claimed he blacked out and went auto pilot from training, and got off scott free,...also alot of witness that said man pulled gun on friend 1st(self defense)..he is also a vietnam vet.........

the city government back then was mostly white people,(i'm not trying to make this a racial issue)....but now the whole city government is blacks and they and the 90% population(blacks) have made it racial and set the scene for a racial war(riot), the 1st mans home has had several drive bys done on it,... he now lives in a bunker, out beside his shop he dug w/ a back hoe and he has parked all his heavy equipment like circling the wagons in the wild west, he has gotten himself (made?) a gilly suit...

he has booby trapped the place and told all friends to stay away and posted signs saying "booby traps/enter at own risk", i still go see him when i'm down there b/c i carry a 40 s&w berreta myself(CCW), specially when down there(my hometown), but have to call him 1st b/c it really is booby trapped and he moves them and makes more

they went and got him for a court hearing and they had him wear body armour, dressed him in cop uniform and kept him surrounded, in fear of a gunman, its down right crazy...every1 i know down there is scared to do/go anywhere b/c of the towns demeanor! it is very tense down there right now, the national guard is out in force, and i believe, they are the reason things haven't popped off already!

he told me along time ago that when he dies, that i could have anything/everything i wanted that he has, since then, he has had a will drawn up w/ me in his will.. stating that i get the machine shop and tools and the stuff he's collected(alot alot of stuff!) he has a '66 chevelle, factory bbc(396) and 4 speed, stripped to bare metal in the shop(been stripped for 20 yrs and it hasn't rusted, not sure if its wiped down w/ oil or what, but it was a resto that he lost time to mess with and it just sits there), when ever i look at it, he stresses don't touch it, where ever you touch it, it will start rusting..

he has no family, except an ex wife who gets squat, and her daughter, his ex step child, who will get his other land and house! i really hate to get the stuff from him b/c of such a horrible incident, but??? i really wish i could help him somehow(very close friend of family)

with all that said, can that big ole diesel be put in a truck, i may ask to buy it, as he has been selling some stuff for attorneys fees!

also any ideas on how to help the man in this prediciment...maybe this should be in the lounge, but it started as a tech question, and i just set the stage as to whats happening! mods move it, if need be! please post comments on motor or situation or both! thanks!

Wow, holy story. Off topic and then back on topic.

That being said, I like my 6.2L. It will be even better with the turbo. I have also driven new cummins and d-max's. I would take either as they are both real nice.A friend said I could try out his powerjoke - I went to get in a puked. Go figure. :D

Ford has never built an"In house diesel" for small trucks. All have been IHC/ Navistar. The only diesel engines ford makes are produced in England and are used in Land Rovers.

Also I dont think Cat will produce an engine for small trucks. To many issues with emissions. Dont think they want the hassles and expense.

This isn't directed at you, Dale. I just clicked on the last reply, which happened to be yours.

I love the amount of misinformation, supposition, and "I heard somewhere......" in this thread. Guys, unless you know something is indeed a fact, please don't bring it up on CK5. Thanks for your cooperation.........:deal:

Why? Isuzu designed the Duramax and is the #1 selling diesel manufacturer in the world. Sound like a good strategy on GM's part to me.

continental tank v10 diesel in k10/k5.....has it been done, is there room? motor didn't look to big, what kind of trans is in a tank?

You would see a Mercedes diesel in a dodge before a cat.

Daimler Chrysler is no longer and a couple years ago both Mercedes and Dodge stated that a Mercedes diesel would never be put in a Dodge Truck.

Also, Ford is making its own in house diesel right now, but it is a V6 slated for the F-150 since the deal with Navistar fell through of the baby stroke.
