Bolting in shock towers in that area is a major pain in the arse. The engine crossmember is right there so you have to carefully plan bolt hole locations and do some contortions to get them in.
 
thank you very much! that will do for now, but I may hit ya up with some questions when its time for me to tackle this.

I have to weld on some lower shock tabs anyway, the dana60 had the shock mounts cut off when i bought it, so I figure I'll do something custom
 
I feel better about going off the top of the axle. When I swapped out the previous axles, I was surprise at how many rock scrapes the shock tabs received. Now I don't have to worry about broken shock tabs and ruining an expensive shock. :doah:

cool, now I think im gonna use my f-250 shock towers in the rear and mount my shocks to the spring plate
 
I am doing a 52" spring swap in my blazer and want to do the f250 shock mounts at the same time what are a cost effective shock that I can use part numbers or links would be great?
