Now I don't want to jinx myself here, but I think I found a pretty good deal this afternoon searching the local CL.

Guy is parting out his 84 K-20 GMC. I called him up and we struck a deal on the grill and headlight bezels for $30. But, after talking to him a bit about the truck, he told me he had rebuilt the axles 8 months ago and put in new bearings, seals and 3.73 gears and nobody has shown any interest in them to date. He wants $250 for the 14 bolt rear, (not sure if it's FF or SF), and $200 for the 10 bolt front.

So tomorrow when I go to buy the grill, I'm going to offer him a down payment on the 14 bolt and see if he takes it and then pay him off on Friday. That way, I can just do the 8-lug spindle swap for the front I have now.

:deal:

More than likely going to have a 14sf but still not too bad.

Thanks for the heads up, found the ad and headed to billings right now to buy them. I talked him down and I will be walking away with both axles for 350.00.

Syke. Should be a good deal. Remember to post pics.

So was it a ff or a sf? Either way, sounds like a deal. There is a guy semi local to me, that deals in the military truck. He always has the axles laying around, but says it cost about $1200 for the set. I would guess if that is going rate for the military axles, then you should come out good on the pair you are getting for $350.

If your heading to Billings for a 14sf for $250 then go a bit farther to here and take your pick of 14ff for $100 easy.

Well I went and looked at the truck. I bought the grill and headlight bezels and I got the brand new tail lights. It is a 14SF, 10 bolt combo. Both axles were rebuilt less than a year ago. He is offering me a package deal, front and rear axles and both driveshafts for ~$450. I just have to see if my budget can handle that come Friday, (one doesn't make a lot in the human services industries in Montana).

I'm pretty sure I'm gonna go for it because that's too good of a deal to pass up. Even Debb is telling me that's a damn god deal and what she knows about cars you could fit into a thimble.

Problem is, I'm already in Billings...have been for 8 years now. :D:haha:

I would like to travel down to your neck of the woods one day for some offroad fun though. Probably wouldn't be until the spring since Debb is just a tick shy of 8 months pregnant. I don't think she would like the bouncing along the trail too much.

Ah got ya, I just looked at your profile and saw Belgrade. Should have come down last weekend and watched the Baja race. Next time you need parts call Woodys auto salvage in Deaver Wy and tell them I told you to call.
