New to the forum and I really appreciate this site. I just purchased a 1988 K5 full size in very good cosmetic shape. Last night while inspecting the front-end I realized that my frame has been repaired but is in very poor shape. I intend to do a frame off restoration (mostly due to the frame) and I am fortunate that I have a shop big enough to do it. It will be my first restoration.

So here is my question - what years should I look at in selecting a frame?

Thanks,
Joe

I found the answer - it appears that any '83 - 91 will work.

Thanks,
Joe

Glad you found the answer. Welcome to CK5!

Keep us posted on how it's going. We like pics too. This going to be a straight up stock restoration? Or more of a resto-mod with a small lift, bigger tires, different engine...?

Will do - Today I welded up the cracks and tightened down the steering box. I'm still on the search for donor and will eventually find one. This will more of a restoration and less of a mud rig.

Thanks,
Joe

I suspect that you are right - I had only found a post or two that suggested 83 - 91. It would make my search easier if I can go back to 81.
