Front 10-bolt automatic hub removal

Wow. You're very brave to put that in the front diff. Tell us your steering experience when you get back from 'wheeling.

I've had a Lock Right in my front 10 bolt for the past several years, yeah while it's in 4wd it can be alittle of a pain to steer from time to time, I just learned to keep it in 2wd until I absolutely needed 4wd. Mainly not keeping it in 4wd while driving to and from the trails, only using it while wheelin'.

I made the mistake once of installing a welded carrier in the front, THAT sucked..ALL the time..

Same here, except mine was a d44, it still is in the axle.
I drove mine 6 years, steering was fine in 2wd and was OK in 4wd.
When you are off road and traction is not good you don;t have a problem steering.
When traction is good I poped it in 2wd.

Does the OP have 4340 axleshafts?

Just wondering.
I have no idea how "stout", stock shafts are...

*I never ran my stockers too hard, as I had OE steering.

I still have the stock shafts in it. I am throwing the idea around of chrome moly shafts, but for now I'll stick with the stocks.

As for the Jimmy, it's now a 100% trail rig. It's rarely going to see road use. I used to drive it during the winter, but I used my DD as the winter driver.

I knew going in that getting a front locker would limit your steering somewhat. But in past wheeling trips, the times when I got stuck, I knew a front locker would get me out of the situation.

I go real easy on the skinny pedal, and I am running 33s with no intentions of anything larger than that. I only do trail riding. Minimal rocks, no sand. Also, I'd guess that 90% of the rigs I run with are front locked, figured I should be as well, considering past experiences I've had.
