Fuel Injection guys, I\'ve got a Q

Where did you install your ECM? My inner fenders are either going to be gone or hacked up by my engine cage, so I'm looking for ideas. Pics would be cool if you have them.

yep i mounted my ecm pretty close to where bobk mounted his..
I put mine kind of next to or above the radio and next to the glovebox under the dash...
To weatherproof it just a bit for in case my truck gets the ocassional rainshower with the top off.. I used a bag and put the ecm in it, then taped the open end of the bag around the wires.. then once installed i poked one or two small holes in the bottom of that bag so it wasn't totally sealed and it could breathe... but it would be like an umbrella if any water got under my dash. /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif

Cool thanks, did you just drill a hole in the firewall for the wires? Also, about how many inches of wire, approximately, are there between the ECM and the motor.

Re: Fuel Injection guys, I\'ve got a Q

Yep. 1 1/2" hole in the middle hump of the firewall, more towards the passanger side. And a big grommet that will fit that hole so no wires get chaffed! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
I'd guess you have probably at least 24" of wiring harness to work with between the ecm and the closest connector out in the engine compartment. It probably depends on what wiring harness you're going with also. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

Cool, thanks. I'm actually having a custom harness made and they needed some measurements but I don't have my engine in yet so I was looking for some ballparks.

Thanks /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

In my '72, I upgraded it myself to a TBI setup, did all the wiring myself, I ended up just attaching it to the floor/firewall ahead of where a floor shifter would go (my truck was an auto unfortunately). Planning on buying a '68 C/20 to replace the '72C10, but I kept the EFI harness and planning on upgrading the '68 to fuel injection also.
