I'm willing to buy the right tools, but I just can't figure out how these are supposed to come off. The brown connector in the back looks like the type that needs to have the tool slide in to spread it apart, but there is no room to get a tool in there that I see.

I have no idea on the black one in the front. It kinda looks like you push down on the tabs, but they are super soft so it doesn't do anything to release the connector.

Any help is much appreciated.

If it helps, these are inside the tank on a 2002 Nissan Xterra.

Those are just squeeze and pull. They can be hard to get to release because as you found they get soft

Dirty tan part on inner should be squeeze both half and wiggle black body .

Other style not 100% sure as i never played with that style yet . But i would bet its them 2 tabs squeeze and wiggle .

Thanks. I'll just have to keep trying them. I HATE this style of connector. They work just fine until the plastic gets soft, then they SUCK.

Can you fit it in your freezer for a couple of hours? Might stiffen it up a bit.

I ended up just breaking off the plastic piece the lines are connected to since it was broken already. The brown one came off easy just by squeezing it. The black one, not so much, but it was just the return line, so I just bypassed it for now. Got the engine running at least.
