Full body crew cab crawler

I can see that helping with the angle of the shaft, by not having both the side and the up and down. Link clearance is helped too. I guess the ground clearance is the only thing being hurt.

he literally rotated the 205 almost all the way down to where the front output was almost in the middle of the truck
But when you're on 4000's and 47's who cares about ground clearance flagwaver

When I first watched gammill's build, I was a little concerned that his wheelbase was too long and it was low enough, especially with the drop cross-member/skid plate, that he would be getting high centered on everything (when he had the 44's on there to start), but once he started upping the tire size to 47"+, it seems to work really well
 
I'm sure you have seen joshgammil's Envoy build on pirate with AT4000's, but it looked like he ended up clocking his doubler down (almost straight down, more like the cases you see on monster trucks) just to get his driveshaft angles correct, then he built a "drop belly" for tcase's/skid plate and also built some of his link mounts off that too...seemed to work really well. Might be a good thing to consider
That was one option but those guys are also way taller than me my angles arent bed like I said I'm not making a decision on drive shaft till its got axles under it and I cab look it over good

take off brake parts look to get crazy money on that evilbay website . . .

so you should get paid a bit back if you resell them not used parts .
 
Here's the arms my friend is using on his, and then a doubler ended ram. These have the correct Ackerman angle. He also built a skid plate and pinion mounted disc brake setup for it.

I wonder if it would be worth using studs instead of bolts to hold the arm to the knuckle?

I've heard a couple people ask this regarding the steering arm bolts but most everyone I've heard says those bolts are freaking huge and they see no real reason to change them from a bolt to a stud...I haven't heard a single issue with them braking so far (unless I missed it somewhere) or them having any issues at all with the bolts
 
as long as the correct grade and style bolt is used I see no problem .

biggest thing I see kill stuff is a bolt with no shoulder letting the part move around a bit and wobble the hole out and thin down and break the bolt off.
 
It is very hard to tell how beefy Axletechs are until you have actually been around them. The pinion on this axle is actually bigger in diameter than a Dana 30 ring gear. However, most of the strength is from the planetaries. It effectively makes it about 3.5 times stronger than the inner parts which are already stouter than a 2.5 ton Rockwell. Comparing a Axletech 4000 to a 2.5 ton Rockwell is about like comparing a Dana 80 to the axle in your riding lawn mower. And if that isn't stout enough, you can always upgrade to the Axletech 5000.
