Hey Everyone,
I am trying to get some weather strip installed today and for the life of me, I can't figure out how it is supposed to be oriented.

If anyone has or can take pictures of the weatherstrip between the front windows and the top that would be awesome.

There was no weatherstrip when I bought it, so I have no idea what the proper orientation is.

Thanks,
John

did you buy the proper weatherstrip for it or are you using some sort of universal.

The stock piece can only be positioned one way

I bought the direct replacement from LMC truck. This is the piece that goes onto the channel on the hardtop. I think I have the right orientation figured out but it looks to be too long so I am just curious what it is supposed to look like, especially in the area at the rear of the door and the area at the front top of the window.

The lmc peice fits like crap, use the glue they give you and put it on carefully, it is too long. My driver side stayed on really well, passenger side not so much

So i guess my main question is this. For the bug chunky piece that goes at the back of the door, there is a flap that looks like it should get sandwiched between the top and the body, is that the case?

Yes I will go outside and see if I can get a pic,my top is on the ground right now

Interested also, I just got my order in from LCM and need to get them installed as well.

Ok, I am at a total loss now. I put the weatherstrip on the way I thought it looked like it should go but alas, no luck. Now the door will barely close and the window wont roll up or down with the door closed cause it is just too tight.

If anyone could take a pic of their I would really really appreciate it. Also, is there a metal U channel connected to the hardtop that the weather strip sits in? I have a metal u channel on mine and I just assumed the weather strip sat in that but maybe it doesnt???

Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Ok, here are pics of what it looks like on mine, maybe someone can chime in and tell me what I have done wrong. In one pic you can see a 1/2 inch gap between the weatherstrip and the top, that is because the weatherstrip is in a metal channel that is screwed to the top. In the pic of the door closed, the glass is pressed up against the weatherstrip so tight that there is no way to roll the window up or down.

Looks right too me it took a while before my window would roll up and down easy, like 6 months at least

Great, thanks Eric. One last question, when you roll the window up, the glass sits on the outside of the weatherstrip right? And you have the little metal channel screwed into the top the the weatherstrip sits in? It just seems to me that if the metal channel wasn't there, things would line up a but better but maybe it just needs to break in.

The metal channel needs to be there. Yes it does sit on the outside of the weatherstrip, occasionally when I rolled up my windows It would kind of wrinkle the weather strip. I would have to open the door with the window up and shut the door. Was nervous the first couple times I did it but I could slam the door hard and it never hurt the glass.

It will get better when it gets warm again

Ok cool. It looks like everything is alright then and it just needs some time to wear in. Thanks for all the help!

Update:

I DEFINITELY had this weatherstrip installed wrong. I thought it just sat in that u channel with weatherstrip glue but there are actually two little grooves in the channel and two little lips on the weatherstrip the need to seat together. Finally noticed that tonight and got it set in right and WALA, perfect fit!

Just an FYI for anyone doing this in the future, if you have the two grooves seated right, there is zero need for weatherstrip adhesive.

You hadn't shoved it in there yet? I am sorry I misunderstood then. I would still put adhesive on it, Mine was fine until summertime one little part would come out and it was hard to get back in. Just a little insurance. Is it still tight on the windows?

It is tight the way I would expect it to be. The windows seal perfect but they are normal effort to roll up and down now and I don't have to slam the door with all my might to get it shut, hahahahahaha.
