G.M.'s Ecotec 2.2L (2.0L for NHRA) 750 hp at 9200 rpm, 400 lbs-ft of torque at 7000....... Nearly 200 hp per cyl, with a block that is 95% stock. "G.M. intends to upset the import world and establish dominance on their own terms." The production engine will have 140 hp, but will with-stand over 350 hp. The 4-bolt aluminum engine will have provisions for external coolers as well as piston cooling bosses. Further-more, the production intake manifold is designed for nitrouse-oxide use. The engines design is intended to mimic the sucsess of the SBC.
