I have a leaking gas tank on my 89. Is there an easy way to get the skid plate off?
Yah, 3 easy to get to bolts on the front side and 3 on the rear. Not hard at all
It's easy, but some trailer hitches get in the way. I had to remove the hitch first to get the tank skid plate off. No big deal, just takes time. It's harder to deal with the filler neck and fuel lines. Those can be a real hassle.
While you have your gas tank out, change the filler hose (1 1/4") and the other hoses going to the tank. Also, before you drop the tank, disconnect the ground that is on the drivers side forward cross member of the tank support.
