Gatsby shackle flip

The FAQ section of their ebay ad says they are 3/16" 0.200 Astm 36 plate steel. EBAY

I think they would work on a mall cruiser or light offroading. I definitely wouldn't run one without the gussets.

Similar to, if not the same, as

Since you're only gonna do this once -- and trust me, dropping that tank is a PAIN -- just splurge and buy the good ones from DIY4X or ORD.

Or if you've got a welder, do it right yourself rather than adding gussets onto these.

Yup, those are the exact same ones. I just thought I'd get some opinions of these from you guys here. Your respones are pretty much what I expected. I wasn't planning on ordering a set I was just stating what I'd personally do to add some strength to them.

I had already planned on getting Kert's kit when I do this later on. I've already ordered quite a few things from Kert in the last few years and I really like the work they do there.

Just because it's supposed to be the same thickness as the OE bracket doesn't make the design as strong. The OE brackets bends, rolls & additional webbing add strength. Imo, this bare bones bracket will fold without a LOT of extra gusseting. If you have to work on it and add 1/2 as much metal as is already there to that bracket you really haven't saved anything.

Something else to consider is the hanger whole, it's centered, not offset like others. You will have to redrill the frame to get it positioned so the shackle angle is correct. The proof of this is in Gatsby's own pics, look at this pic closely and you can see the OE hangers original mounting imprint in the undercoating on the frame.
