GIANT TECH Plasma Cutter

It arrived yesterday. had to wait till today to hook it up. So far the plasma cutter has worked flawlessly.

Tried it out on some thin 16 guage ant it left very little slag. Almost none.
Moved up to some 1/4" and it cut like butter.

The thickest steel I have right now it 3/8" and it cut it nicely, more slag than the thinner pieces, but not near as much as a torch. Not to mention the time saved setting up the torch and heating metal.

I have some 1" at work I will bring home.

I didn't get a tank of argon yesterday, will have to wait till Monday. So I haven't tried the Tig yet.

So far I'm impressed. As long as the tig works as well as the plasma, I will be very happy.

I will get picks tomorrow or monday. My wife took the good camera to Florida.

On the 1 inch cut, it's a MAX severance for this machine, you need a steady hand-new consumables-4.5 on the air gauge as air flows out of the torch-start with the torch at the edge and wait there until it cuts all the way down the side then slowly and steadily move the torch. It’s only going to do about 1 inch per minute and you’ll have plenty of dross.

Thats what I figured. I'm still playing with it. I'm used to the one at work.

Nothing to add on the brand... but I will say that what you buy should depend on how often/hard your gonna use it. Theres plenty of different tools that won't last in proffessional use but will last a lifetime around the house.

Yes, It's working quite well. I've been using it mostly for thin quage metal. Haven't had a need to cut anything over 1/8" in a while. Plan to cut up a Suburban this week.

I wish I had bought one years ago. The torch still has it's use, but mostly for heating up rusted bolts/nuts.

One of these days I will pick up a tank so I can use the tig. I don't need a tig welder all that much at home. I use the MM200 for all my welding.

Well I cut up most of a Suburban today. Worked like a champ. It laughed at the sheet metal and snickered at the frame.

A friend helping me thought that the sawzall would work faster. So we raced across the roof. I had 2 cuts done to his one. So we raced on the A-pillars and he changed his mind.:D

I have to say that a motor/transmission/transfer case all attached is a little heavy.

Yes, a sawall doesn't stand a chance against the plasma :haha:

Need a Chinese plasma cutter , tig welder , arc welder ? We also have ac dc tig welders for those aluminum jobs. Go here ,,, www.plasmametalcutter.com

I'm going to be buying one of these very soon hopefully. I have all the good stuff in my shop other than a plasma and a TIG. My Hobart MIG keeps me satisfied for welding, but I really want a plasma for chopping stuff up. :)

I bought a Parker Metalworking plasma 2 years ago, got the so called "turbo" upgrade... crapped on me the 4th use. I sent it in and they shipped me a "new" one... the new one shat on me 4 uses later (alotta time went by, labor warranty died). Ive contacted them (wasn't easy) and gotten a bunch of run around imho ("we're moving, call me in two weeks" yada yada yada). Apparently the "OC" light is not good and could potentially take a great deal of time to figure out? I call BS! and am wondering if you repair machines that aren't yours? I need a working plasma ASAP!
Thanks in advance for your response,

Yes we can fix it .

I just got off the phone with Larry and if nothing else, he was very helpfull! Im gonna try Parker again for my repair, they've moved to Oregon and may be abit more available (and reasonable) now Im hoping... otherwise Larry will be getting another call from me. Thanks for your time and wish your business the best of luck.

that sucks..... for the record, my Parker has been awesome... I've used the pee out of it for a year or so now...

Anyone heard from the Gianttech guy, I've been trying to get a hold of him to place an order?

Depending on how much I can sell some of these parts I've got here, I think I may be ordering mine soon. :)
