GM Crate Motors

The "Goodwrench" motors are just renamed "Targetmaster's"
I have a neighbor that just bought one from our local Chevrolet dealer, got it home installed in to a '68 ElCamino,it didnt run right so they did a compression test....100lbs each cylinder. That seams kinda low for a NEW engine. They called the dealer and was told that since all the cylinders were the same there wasnt anything they could do.
I myself would goto a wrecking yard and find a nice std bore 010 block, pull the timing cover and look for "010 and 020" behind the timing chain and use that one to build a STRONG 350/383. Then YOU wil know what has been done to it.

i bought mine fall of 2007 and i pull good vacuum,... one thing i did do was eliminate all the unnessacary vacuum lines from factory and i timed the engine for vacuum advance instead of the constant vac it was originally intended

All I have is PCV, vacuum advance and brakes... EGR is blocked off with a plate.

I did just eliminate the Edelbrock carb, we'll see if the Q-Jet makes a difference. Maybe the Edelbrock AFB leaked...???

unsure about the eddy leaking but my quad is a new one as well. maybe that is a difference.. cause i am set up just like you

Hopefully it'll be a positive change. After that I'm gonna look at the manifold gaskets. Although, like I said, many others had the same deal going on. I may try advancing the cam a couple of degrees and see what that buys me.
