Started off running a Holley600 and found out fast how that didn't work so well. I had bought this back in 2005 off ebay knowing someday it would be put to use. The time is NOW. With all the rain lately, a helpful friend and I stayed dry and got this going.

That is beautiful! What is the HP numbers on your engine? Let us now how hard or easy it tunes.

That motor have any mods done to it? I was looking at the Howell fuel injection for my '72's BBC but think I may go with one of these. Seeing as how they're about the same price and think just looks sexier :D

EDIT: wait a minute. Will this still work on an older block or will I have to find differnt heads? Forgot about that :doah:

No big mods to engine.Heads, cam, headers. Though, edelbrock has different chips for you engine mods.
It works with older heads too. I am running the older style Dart heads.

Oh ok. I got to searching a little more. The one I clicked was for the 87-newer motors. :doah:Says the ones for the older was over $2k. I need to research more

Yeah retail is over $2K. Thats why I picked it up and held on to it because of the great deal I got it for.

Well a little update. I cant get a spark. I have called edelbrock and they gave me a list of stuff to check and it s all good. I call again and they are now telling me that it won't start or get spark UNLESS there is 10.5 volts to the starter at first initual start up. I am only getting 9.7 reading on the little hand held computer on a fully charged OPTIMA. So, any ideas??

I'm not a "paying member" so I can't see the photos.

Several years ago I bought an FJ40 LandCruiser that the previous owner had installed a 383 stroker with Edelbrok multi-port fuel injection system. He poured money into this machine and especially the engine. Reading the list of "goodies" in the engine was impressive.

However the performance of that engine was, to put it nicely, lackluster. I'm not particularly literate when it comes to computer stuff, and the idea of changing fuel mapping curves, etc in the computer was not something I wanted to do. I think that for the person who is knowledgeable and comfortable in that arena that system offers great potential. However for people like me it's a gross waste of time and money, and it's not like there are a whole lot of local resources for help either.

Tom cherry at ord has one and loves it. I know that he has it custom for his motor and that truggy runs dam good.

If its like the GM TBI there is a wire that needs to be energized with battery voltage when you are trying to turn it over. If you have a wire that needs to see that the starter is turning tie it directly to the wire that energizes the start solenoid. There is a lot of voltage drop in the stock key switch to the starter so make sure you still have 10.5 while starting where you tap into.

Well the thing is that it is all on its own wiring loom. Its all plug and play. So how would I do this maybe by running a part time thing just to get it going?

thats what the "r" terminal on starters is for, it's a bypass... first used as a ballast resistor bypass back in the day...

well if its all plug and play there must be some inputs you needed to wire in yourself like 12V constant, Ground, 12V ignition at least im sure. You got a wiring scematic for it? If not, call edelbrock again and get one. You obviously know which wire needs the 10.5V so where does it go to?

What's the deal on this project Ryan? You going to have it together so we can go wheelin' for Memorial day? :)

As of now I had to take the whole thing out minus a few parts and send it to Edelbrock Corp. I called their tech line a bunch of times do to no spark and did test after test with now prevail. So the last thing was just to send it in so they can test the whole thing out. I wasn't planning to have such problems with a plug and play kit.

ebay may have struck again...
never know, but that system looks super fine funky fresh
u get tired of lookin at it, send it my way :)

Just after 2 days shipping to Edelbrock they call me with an answer. The ignition amplifier was a dud. After a few years of sitting around I guess it can happen. They sell me a new one at employee price and ship it back to me on there dime. I say very good help and service. Hope it fires this time.

Awesome!! A company that'll be quick and back their stuff. Kudos to Edelbrock :waytogo:
