I use this stuff called "Scrubs" Thay are towels that come in a bucket
dish soap and a scrub brush, hasnt failed me yet. used to use Gojo, Fast Orange, or this stuff that Jiffy Lube used when i worked there. nothing beats the dish soap.

you are right, dish soap is the whip. everything else works for the most part, but dish soap is cheap.
Try this: spray WD 40 all over your hands, wipe off with a rag, then dish soap.
Really, that's really kool. My Sister's husband does amateur iron working/blacksmithing!

gas works good for getting alot of grime off....
Nice knowing you..
GAS!!..I used to use gas too(And laquer thinner to wash paint off my hands 15 times a day when I mixed auto paint for a living!)..I learned both go right thru your skin, into the bloodstream, and end up in your liver! ..actually,ANY petroleum based solvent does..but diesel or kerosene isn't absorbed as quickly..Cirrossis of the liver is a common disease of auto body workers, due to the exposure to solvents.(plus many of them drink hard stuff too! )
I now use Dawn dishwashing liquid,if its really stubborn grime I use a squirt of Castrol "Super Clean",which is also nasty stuff, but gets you really clean!..I used to use "Lestoil",but that is petroleum based and it smells like pine-sol..works good on greasy clothes!.
hmmm i gotta keep my liver around so i can keep punishing it with booze...
I will limit my gas usage for extreme dirty.
