ive found a 350 tbi out of a 93 cadillac fleetwood. I can actually get the entire car for the price of the engine. so i would be able to get the harness and the computer. Ive heard i need the 7747(?) computer preferably.

Are there any issues with swapping this engine into my 83 k5 with th350 behind it?

after further research. it has the 4l60 behind it, meaning its computer controlled... would i be able to put a 7747 computer on it and be able to bypass the computer cotrolled tranny?

any help guys?

4l60 is electric only.

if me i would keep it. you can play with all the shift kit stuff with a chip burn. no need to drop the pan and valve body. and get slimy with fluid.

also no tv cable to get miss adjusted and burn up the tranny.

well being a 2wd transmision along with me using a 205 i dont think id be able to use that tranny.

what are my options for getting this in my blazer with the old school tranny. reprogram the computer or am i able to get away with doing something else?

redo and cut out stuff from harnness .

buy a stand alone harnness set up for the year of the motor / sensors.

buy a chip burnt for motor only.

easy to do all 3.

have a tranny shop swap the tail shaft and bolt on the 205 and go. then get a mech speddo to electric box that others have been using. and all will be just fine.

few ways around this stuff.

small bonus is the 350 in the caddy should be a roller cam motor. trucks get mech cams. so you get free hp.

4L60E is electric. 4L60 is just another way of saying TH700R4. I am not sure about a Caddy, but I know 1993 Camaros used a standard TH700R4, they didn't use the 4L60E until 1994.

its the last year they used the 4l60, non e, in the fleetwood from what ive found. so that means that the computer only controls the engine then.... correct?

If thats the case that releives me alot.

Are there any other differences between a caddy 350 and a chevy truck 350 thats going to make a signifigant problems that would shy me away from this deal?

Not that I know of. They are both just small block Chevrolets. The accessories might not work in the truck, but I would at least try it. I am sure you will find a few obstacles, but doubtfully anything too complicated.

makes me feel better. Wonder if the power steering pump would work... my current engine has those good ol POS vbelts.

Hell yea Keep that serp set up! Even if your harness is to much to deal with, a slightly modified truck harness from a salvage yard would do fine. You may have to swap some sensors and other small stuff around, but the engine itself is worth getting.. I bet that things got a kick A** alt on it as well!

yep you got me i missed the ( E ) on the 4;60 not being there.

and the p/s pumps are all the same n our rigs for the most part. you just need to swap pulleys. i run full serp belt setup on my truck with the 79 pump. only 2 things i did was swap to american thread bolts to hold the pump to bracket. and press on the serp belt pulley.

How much of the the blazer harness with i reuse? Currently mine is a rats nest from the previous owner. I dont know what go wheres to be honest its that bad. haha. Im hoping most of that will go away with this swap?

you'll have to do some changing around at the firewall plug as they're different IIRC. so you could do the chop closer to there if you wanted. This thread has a lot of useful info http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=254606 "dave w" is a wiring genius by the looks of it.. so hopefully he'll chime in. Other than that you could swap an "entire" harness from a doner rig, But if you can understand wiring at all, I would go the "hybrid" way.

With all the knowledge on here........... you can't fail....... they wont let you...

What all am i going to need from the caddy harness being that id be putting the entire engine in my 83. i know everything from the ecm. but everything else under hood.

Im sure the alt has a different connection, i wont be using ac, but what about the rest of the engine? how do i do this swap and not let it get the best of me (as im already starting to feel it may)

I havent done the actaul swap myself on one, (mine have all been injected 87+) But like I said, dave w should have all the answers you'll need. Besides making the harness work, the only other thing I think you have to deal with is fuel lines and fuel pump.
