The guy I bought my K10 from stopped up the other day offering me a straight up trade [plus he'd pay title transfer fees etc].

'86 Monte Carlo SS, built 350 w/ all kinds of fancy stuff under the hood, auto overdrive, T-tops, pretty decent interior, centerline rims [15x12 out back!], Koni adjustable lowered suspension etc. It needs a better paint job, but it's pretty badas$.

specs on my K10; '78, 350/sm465/205/D44/12b. just has 4" rough country and 35's on it. Pretty good shape except for passenger side floor has a good bit of rust on it.

I know it's ultimately my choice, but what do you guys think? Are those 4th gen Montes valuable or no?

I wouldn't do it.

I've been looking for monte to do circle track with. They are popular street stock cars. That should tell you something.

Look funny with that Monte stuck up to its door in mud! But seriously I wouldn't. You know what you have (or so I hope) and besides your truck is getting more valuable every day.

But as you said in the end it is your choice. Use the force Luke, use the force!

Like Metrodps said...at least you know what you have with your K5. Besides winter is coming and trust me you don't want to be driving that Monte Carlo!!

I'd do it , then fly out west and buy another truck . Montes are harder to find everyday , even out here , they are all lowered and stuff , no nice ines to be found for hot roddder types :thumb:

I have been thinking about getting one for my soon to be driving daughter full frame, v8, two door, can pull out the back seat, just about perfect car:D

Is it a true SS or something someone has converted? Is it tubbed to fit the 12's or jacked up in the arse?

If it is a true SS and not half ass built then I would probably do the trade and then get another truck. The SS's are getting harder to find in good condition and the prices are rising faster than the truck is.

x2 ;)

I haven't yet talked to the guy in detail about the car.

I went and looked at it but he wasn't home. He claimed it was an SS. It has no SS badging. For me though, I don't care. It has a built 350 and a posi rear, it's good enough SS or not lol.

I'll know all the specs when I tlak to him in detail about it but just looking under the hood it had a nice clean [no grime! holy cow] orange block, aluminum [probably vortec] heads, a weiand hi rise aluminum intake, edelbrock carb, fancy K&N air cleaner, MSD 6AL ignition, some flamethrower coil pack thing, all steel braided hoses and lines etc. etc.

I'll go drive it and if it's fast...well...maybe bye bye K10. I can't help but think of the good times camping and stuff i can have in the truck though.

I'll update.
