i got the new box today i was thinking about for me. i got this snapon box http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item.asp?P65=&tool=storage&item_ID=77150&group_ID=20013&store=snapon-store&dir=catalog

then it had this stanless steel top on it http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item.asp?P65=&tool=storage&item_ID=68126&group_ID=2244&store=snapon-store&dir=catalog not this exact one but just like it but for my box. pic just for reference.

i defenetly didnt pay full price by any means. the box is used on paper. but in real life its brand new. person fell on hard times and had to trade it back in and give it up. only had his tools in it and never realy used in 6 months.

so he had it for sale and i saw it and said ya why not. i have been working out of a old craftsman set of boxes for over 7+ years now. its time for me to have a nice new to me box.

will get actuale pics of it up soon. need to swap all my stuff over and then will get some pics.

more at post #15 for more real world info.

nice dude. Triple banks are the new hot ticket. Got to love the space. If I get back into it, one of the first purchases I make will be a new triple box.

I bought the same box about a year ago. Except in blue. I love it, but still not quite big eneugh. Was thinking about getting the classic 78 top so I can keep some worktop space. I dont know yet. Congrats

I'd love a new Snappy box, but I just pulled the $3000 trigger on a Solus scanner.

My 17 year old Matco box is gonna have to last a little while longer.

Side lockers are a wonderful addition to a triple bay. Think I will make that jump at the sametime, though I will likely wait for someone to come along with a deal first. Eh, who knows where I'm headed anyway. Nice to dream and envy.

Haven't used a Solus, how do you like it? I have a Matco ProScan(aka OTC Nemisys), love that little thing. Quite a bit cheaper than $3k too. Like I said, haven't tried a Solus, the Snap-On guy came around with that thing the week after I bought my ProScan, haha.

I LOVE!! my Snap On 96 incher, it is simply beautiful. the drawers are sooo smooth to open. nice buy, you will love it.

I bought that same box a year ago, been a nice box. I traded the thinner drawers for some deep drawers for more case storage. Perfect box to add on to when the time comes, so you should be happy with it for a lot of years. Can't beat it for the money, I have a triple bay Matco top and bottom box that I paid almost triple for 7 years ago. It is a little nicer and heavier but not enough to justify the additional money, not to mention adding on to the Matco is big money. It would have cost more to add lockers on the Matco than to buy the Snap On box (4400 vs. 3500) which is why I bought it. It'll also be cheaper to upgrade the Snappy box in the future than to add on to my Matco box.

That is where Snap-On has the market cornered. The versaility and timeline. The fact that they haven't really changed much about their boxes over the years makes them kind of boring, but you can swap stuff around so easily.

My team leader at the dealership I just left had what we called "Franken-Box" it was a testament to the versatility of Snap-On. He had a 72" bottom chest. A 52" top box that was about 3 or 4" narrower than the bottom so it had a small shelf in front. Then he had 2 side lockers. One side locker was built within the past 2 or 3 years. The other was almost 10 years old I believe. Tiniest difference in paint shades but that was all, otherwise identical. Then he had a hutch over the top box(had to stilt it up on 4x4s to make it fit over the 52" box and still slightly open the top). Then he had 2 top cabinets that set on top of the hutch. All of this for under $10,000. Just picked everything up used here and there, and it was all really good condition stuff. Only thing was the one locker was about 5 or 6" shorter than the other, so he bought a drawer from the Mac guy(strange situation) and put it underneath the locker for even more room. All that and he had it damn near full, ha. But there is just no way you could do that with a Mac or Matco box anytime soon.

Solus elite, new, updated to 7.2 for $2995, without a trade in of any sort. I offered him my brick as a trade in, he already had a few on the truck and said no.

I know a few other guys that paid alot more for their Solus. My Snappy dealer must really like me to give me a deal like that.

you got a good deal, they're normally 3695... ive got a customer trying to unload his modis right now for 4-5k because he lost all his techs and doesnt do repairs anymore, just sales (euro, all ignition adapters) just needs the 7.2 update

well o swaped all my stuff over. wow :eek1: what a job. only thing i dont like at all is the lower stance of the box.

so in true form to a real man and the way we like are stuff. i am going to make a lift kit for it. thinking 12" lift will be better. i am going to make it basic bolt on. unbolt the wheels and bolt in the spacers with rails running all around to give full support and extra storage on the bottom.

i will fill the bottom in with expanded metal and a few bars for middle support. then i will be happy with it.

i will get piccs thusday of it and how she is set up for now. ;)

:haha: Wow, a lift kit on a tool box. Only a guy on on CK5 would do such a thing:D .
Actually that is a good idea though, make it a whole lot easier to sweep out from under. Not to mention retrieving the nuts and bolts that always shoot out of the impact wobbly and right under the middle of the tool box, usually right behind one of the casters.:doah: Might have to give it a try.

I guess I've got about a 3" lift on mine. The box sits on an angle iron frame and has 2" risers welded under the frame. The casters are welded to the risers. We move our boxes farther than most people, so it also has a tow bar welded to the frame to allow it to be pulled with a bag tug.

However my box is no where near as nice as sweetk30's. In fact it is starting to fall apart and I need to rivet some doublers on to it.

someone needs to build a lift for these...
