Been adding some new screwdrivers recently. The PBSwiss' are sweet. bought the Vessels to have some JIS's for the Japanese vehicles in my fleet.
Found the Armstrong NOS ratcheting jobs at a local wholesaler (Cripe Distributing).

All sorts of projects. If its over 1/2" my bit set goes to i use step bits .

I used these on the sealer trailer build . I had to do 2 holes 3/4" size threw 2 sections of c-channel and it went threw like butter .

Best cutting step bits i have EVER USED . I did it with a 0-650 rpm old school drill . Slow and steady i was told by a 40+year machinist. If i tdd s small chips or nice long curly cues the your good to go .

Somewhere being famous.
I use step bitts daily. I have not found anything that lasts going through stainless more than 30 times. 24 and 26 gauge.

We will see how these do.

i can tell you i had around a 7/16" pilot hole in some 1/2" total thickness stuff . i grabbed the one for 3/4" and my old j.c.penny hand drill thats 5amps and 0-650 rpm went threw there like it was butter . i have never used a step bit that eat metal this easy and fast . now how long they last will find out .

i think the biggest thing these days is drills spin to dam fast and you smoke bits . i have found my bits last longer cause i use 1 of 3 drills . 650 max / 1,000 max / 400 max . in the past with drills doing 2,500-up i tend to smoke bits even with oil of some kind . now i use these slower drills and oil i only have problems if i get stupid with them .

I might try some. I have enclosure boxes that I make that have 17 holes and up depending on the size. I'm interested to see their longevity.

I find lots of uses for the step bits. The HF ones don't last too long. Need to try some of @sweetk30's.

The one time I tried HF step bit it didn't work right out of the package, mild steel, barely put a dimple in the piece. I always set the drill press to the slowest speed, but these cheapy drills and presses don't have slow enough speeds not to over heat bits, got to save the old school one people are trashing for this new crap. While my bench top drill press is an import, I have had it for 33 years and I got it second hand, has a reasonable slow speed.

I always drill a 1/4" pilot with a step bit. The ones we have at work eat well, but don't start for crap.

Was bored and decided to see if I needed to add a spacer to the trans jack to reach the trans or transfer case in my blazer.
It reaches 25 inches and trans sets at 22 inches!! Cool beans!!

I have the bracket pieces from my adapter and I will drill and tap some hole tomorrow to make it bolt on to the tilting platform witch is SWEET!!!! I am stoked , just need to wash of the dirt and paint this sucker!!
