A few weeks back I bought an 85 K5 in ROUGH shape for 200 bucks. Initially I was going to do a MAJOR hack job on fenders. After looking more closely at it. I feel it is a better idea to ditch the K5 tub and find a half way clean pickup cab for it. With the shape the body is in im going to give the frame a good once over when I box it it.
Anywho here are some pics. Saturday morning Calvin, his girlfriend Mandy, Myrtue and Me went after it.
Calvin at this point asked me...your getting this thing free right
This is the most work Myrtue did the whole time...he kept bitchin about his hangover(Check my post "Karma" in the Lounge) http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=208756
Our supervisor sitting in the back of her boyfriend's pickup.
We couldnt get Calvins trailer winch to work so we used my two come-a-longs to winch it up onto the trailer. The whole time Myrtue is taking pics
Half loaded up...aka Break Time
We got it loaded up took a half mile to town then used the forklift where I work to center it on the trailer a bit better.
So far this is the only major thing I know that is wrong with it.
Although 90 % of this thing will be gutted anyway so it doesnt really matter. Frame and 6.2 will stay for sure...who knows about the rest. Im going to get my K10 done first then I can cut loose on my dedicated trail rig.
Im hoping by the time its done Ill have Calvin addicted to wheeling enough he can trailer it around for me. His 6.0 pulls nice, and sounds good with Flowmasters too
All in all it took us about 4 1/2 hours. 2 1/2 of which were driving and a 1/2 hour trying to get the electric winch to work.
