Harbor Freight 6" DA Polisher

you can buy the best on the market, the porter cable, for about double that....

electric tools from HF suck balls... if they last a 1/2 dozen uses , your lucky imo..

or run air if ya got a decent comp.. you can get reasonable air DA's for under $50..

Our compressor finally died and my brother doesn't have his new one wired to the garage yet. Otherwise I would use an air powered DA since we have one already. I'd basically be using this to sand down a tailgate for my blazer. And for the bed on my dads pickup

you can give it a shot, I just wouldn't be surprised if it's got smoke pouring out of it in short order... might get ya thru a job...

Just as a minor point: I grabbed one and it has survived a year so far with no problems. I'm about to dive in and do some more with it...so if it eats it, I'll repost and buy the PC one, too.

yup.... I guess for the occasional home-use deal, the Chicago electric cr@p could be ok.. but try using it professionally..

my one boss buys that sh*t cuz he's a cheap fock... circular saws, die grinders, right angles.... it's all lightweight extreme cr@p.. some will hold for a bit, but it's not uncommon to kill em in short order..

it's like craftsman ratchets.. sure, they had a lifetime warranty, but when I had to return a 1/2 dozen blown up 3/8's ratchets in a yr, the time it took out of my day, I could have earned enough at my job to buy a couple sweet snappy ones...

That's my biggest problem with HF electric tools. It's always a crap shoot as to what you will get. I've got one that has lasted for years of heavy (home) use, and another that crapped out the first weekend. But I wouldn't trust either on the job.

I have a HF Jack, and HF Jack stands.
Theyre the only tools I trust, by HF.

Also, I rebuilt the Jack... New seals, checked valves, new fluid.
And, I leave the Jack under the Vehicle, when on stands.
Because the stands are HF, and I might need that extra couple seconds to get away.

:haha:

Eh, i do this with any jack/stands.

But, their stands are pretty solid.

I LOVE my 12 ton stands. Height I need at lowest setting. Super Stable.

Can't imagine working on my burb with standard 3 ton's extended....:eek1:

Yea... Mine are the big orange ones.
They gotta be decent, i mean the prerunner guys use them. :haha:

But, back to the subject at hand.... Don't buy spinny-explody things from HF.

Update: Menards had the Porter Cable electric DA sander on sale for $100. So I bought it. So far have only used it on 1 small project. Made a Baggos set for a friend. I am happy with the sander so far

that's the only one to get.. it's what you'll find in most marinas...

I've been hawking them in here for yr's... just used mine a ton today... not quite as ballsy as an air with a great compressor running balls to the wall, but can still rip sh*t up and is WAY quite comparatively....
