Has anyone made a full frame

I could have steel here as early as Thursday. Is it on? :D

Nah, wouldn't be like that. I'd do it myself after hours. My guys don't build my trucks, they build you guys' trucks.:thumb:

EDIT: and to level the playing field even more, i'll tell ya this much, when I do mine, i'm using a thin wheel and adjustable protractors. No fancy equipment.

seriously though, it would be cool to see the 2 different approaches, and honestly I wish I had the space to attempt something like this.
 
Well I started measuring yesterday, but I need to get the core support, bumper and front axle off then I can get better measurements.

It looks like I can keep the frame width at 34" until it raises and necks down for the motor. Trying to figure out why GM would widen the frame to 37" in the middle for only 20" or so. Hopefully I can get it stripped to just the frame on thursday or friday. It is pretty amazing how much a stock frame flexes btw.
 
It allows for slightly smaller cab mounting brackets and possibly more clearance for exhaust/wiring/speedo cable/etc.

I could see that so they could use thiner brackets for the cab mounting. I believe that the widest part is behind where the tcase would be. I will have to check my notes later. With everything being completely custom I do not think 3 inches is going to kill me. Body mounts will be made from 3/16 or 1/4" steel and be stronger than the factory stamped ones.
 
I'm sure it's for the cab mounts. When My bro put a 52 dodge m-37 body onto a 79 suburban frame. The rear cab mounts are way out close to the edge of the body. So the rear cab mounts had to be almost 10 inches off the frame. They were long enough to flex the frame. So he ended up making a cross brace that went on top of the frame from body mount to body mount
 
narrower frame with wide body mounts shouldn't be as much of an issue with the box tube. I think i'd stay with the 34" width. Your only talkin' 1.5" per side. Not to bad to deal with. Crossmember and you're golden.

Building a short box frame its straight 34" all the way from the rear bumper to the firewall more or less.

That's what I figured but I actually do not think there is a body mount on the 37" part.
 
Not even sure what frame you're building but if its the 80 something and up blazer I think, that wider area has to do with the rear passenger foot well if memory serves.

Ahh that could be it. I am building a 80's something blazer.
